Not exactly an iPod, but check this out. A 5GB M-Robe by Olympus for 99 bucks. Even if you just used it to hold / transer files that would be a decent price, but it comes with a charging dock and everything. And I think it's supported by the Napster / Rhapsody "To Go" services...

I'm going to pick one up for my daughter shortly. She's been saving her allowance all summer for a iPod Mini, and this will substitute nicely.

I agree with popejohn, while your intensions are nice they would be appreciated by people like us rather than your daughter.

We bought it last week and she's been thrilled. She wasn't hung up on the iPod at all, she just wanted a decent amount of storage. And the cool thing is that the only one left was the display model so they threw in a two year warranty. If it stops working we simply take it to Radio Shack and get a $100 credit towards whatever she wants.

I think I hit my head too hard at some point after that though... I dont remember a thing.

Scratch that! I just checked the Radio Shack website and that $30 rebate is good until December 31st. And they have free shipping if you wanted to order it from the website.
