So lots of people know about them, maybey even bought something from them in the past.

Well I bought my car deck from them and got it a few days ago. When I called them on the phone before ordering it to ask a question, they answered it very well, then told me the two items they were giving me for free (wiring harness and dash pocket to fit under the aftermarket deck, filling the stock hole in the dash) were out of stock but would ship as soon as they were in stock.

So the deck came a two days ago, well packaged with good instructions and all that, but of course the other items were not there. I called them today to ask when I can expect them, because I'm driving to New York in a week and need everything installed by then. He told me they had just come in, and would be shipping soon. Before I could even ask, he told me he would bump me up to second day air shipping for FREE, on items that were free to begin with.

Yes, they are often more expensive than some other audio places, in some cases quite a bit, but when the price is close, I fully support buying from them. They are a text book example of good customer service, something I previously experiences when I had to send back those huge tower speakers I bought for my dorm

I wish more websites, or hell, stores in general, were as nice and helpful as Crutchfield.com.

That is all

I guarantee customer service is coming back in the next 10 years.

What I mean buy that is that the "dell business model" will only go so far. All these companies are competing on price and eventually only one player will win, whoever can purchase products the cheapest. In order to survive the other companies are going to have to offer something else and I believe it will be customer service.
