I don't mind my job. The only bad stuff is all the depressing shit that goes on, my department acts like a bunch of 5 year olds (but it also means I get promoted quick. I already got an offer to move up like 5 positions but i cant because of school =( and also all the tedious shit we have to do. Mostly this is a thread about the stupid shit you have to do.

My night went like this:
get to work at 8pm. play ff3 for 2 hours. spend the next 11 doing an "inservice" which is a shitload of tests over all the hospital policies. About 100 pages of shit to read/memorize and then it was around 10 tests to take over it all. Who gives a shit that security's pager # is 99blah blah blah or that the guard who patrols the parking lot is designated s2? There was one test in there applicable to my department, the rest is shit about diseases and crap that all the nurses need to know, and when I have to go to isolation/ER/OR/etc, they will tell me what I need to know so I don't catch shit. I have to do this shit every quarter too. I'm a button pusher / desk jockey, I'm not going to be asked to do anything if there is an amber alert.

okay, i'm done. I think I'm mostly just pissed since I normally sit on my ass all night and study or play video games, and I actually had to work tonight

My job only sucks when it rains or snows. Outside work is pretty much the shit. When it snows we have spend half a day cleaning of the job site for no extra money and thats pretty shit but other than that its tight.

my job is awesome....till my boss' fucked it up....pissed off our major source of funding...got the company into legal trouble and now were out of jobs come Feb probaboly. No worries though already have other offers at better salaries but I'm really going to miss the guys. Worked only 20-40 hour weeks depending on load...would go out drinking and strip clubs for lunch...got to travel on their dime...it was nice.

My job is fun and exciting because, for the most part, we do different things everyday. I can't complain about the management, they don't really bother me too much. I have great hours, I work with a bunch of my friends, there are some hot chicks there, and I actually enjoy myself at work. It's a pretty happy place most of the time.

My only gripe is the pay... it sucks. I guess that's the comprimise. It beats the hell out of dishwashing though.

For Christmas tree season though, we get to pocket the tip money that the customers give us for helping tie down their trees to their cars. That's a pretty sweet deal.

Oh yeah, I work on a farm.

I love my job, I repair random broken stuff that the school district breaks for $8.50 an hour. My bosses are really laid back and I'm good enough that they wont mind paying me to slack off for a day. The only downside is that I'm the only teenager in the building, and that they have the internet cordoned off to only a few sites.

My job sucked, new job starts tomorrow.

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

you guys all know about my job. I have plenty of things rant and rave about. Here's a short list of what I put up with:

Going to to sea (being away long periods of time)
Tons of paperwork involved with all work (nuclear stuff)
Tons of politics within the nuclear world
Lots of hours
Frequent personal injuries (pulled muscles, scrapes, bruises, etc...)

I really do love my job, overall though. I make good money, really enjoy working with most of the people, and have had the chance to travel and do a lot that I would have never gotten to do otherwise. I understand that I should make more money for what I do, but I do it for many other reasons.

My job sucks in that I am paid 14 an hour to drive equipment that costs 150-200 thousand dollars plus the load of goods (somewhere up into the millions of dollars worth sometimes). The people who drive forklifts get paid 16.50 and they didn't have to go to school or be under Federal rules and regs...half of them are illegals.....hows that a kick to the face!!!!!! Then I have to be responsible for all the idiot drivers out there who like to pull right in front of me and slam on their brake to make their turns. Then there is the stupid bullshit with the office people because they treat truck drivers like SHIT and keep cutting our pay and then they want us to park somewhere else because they don't like our trucks parked where they are so now we have to walk about a half a mile to get to them (which makes no sense). Then you get bitched out cause even after you have driven over a million miles with NO ACCIDENTS some other douchebag rips off a trailer door and then you have to hear about it for the next week.

OHHHH and my favorite part just happened....

Sure erik, take your two weeks of paid vacation because you have been working 7 days a week for 6 months......then halfway through the second week - Sorry Erik, we can't pay you for the vacation time because you came back 3 days after blah blah blah.....etc..... your screwed and we won't compensate you for it - hey you want to work this weekend and give up your ONLY time with your daughter, becasue you obviously need the money now!?"

I live pretty much paycheck to paycheck to pay off debt that my ex left me with and so I couldn't afford to take the time off unpaid...so due to this I almost got evicted but I had a tiny bit of money saved and I had to borrow the rest from my family (which was more painful than you think) AND now I can't do things like the secret santa thing - I can't by my daghter a good gift as I will have maybe 15 bucks to my name that isn't accounted for......

You know - I could go on for hours about this........I'll stop....

my job is easy as hell but it gets frustrating... I pick up palleted freight with my forklift and stack it/cram it all into a big aluminum container.. I have to do this about 10-15 times a night in a matter of 3-4 hours. Its easy but the people, the weather, the fumes and loud noise just tears me apart.

I gotta find a day job in the next coming months because my bachelors classes will be at night and will interfere with late work hours..

aside from that week to week pay, i got my little tax free side gigs to pay for non-bill spendatures.. ya know the usual.. selling dope, selling hoes and robbng people.

i was so going to make a thread just like this. haha.
i work in the consumer loan department for a major bank that has branches in CT, RI, MA, and NY. i report to a woman who is 69 yrs old and has been temping there for 13 years and her name is barbie. she treats all her temps that are hired to help her out like shit. she thinks i'm incompetent. these past few weeks i've obviously have had other things on my mine (aka my neurological tics and not knowing what wrong with me, my doc i saw in the ER taking me off my Anti-Depressants cold turkey so dealing with those side effects, and dealing with meds that aren't helping my tics) so needless to say i'm a little on edge at work.
i'm in charge of doing the mail/faxes that come in (inputting the information into the loan comment screen) and then giving it to the appropriate person. i also have to pull around 100 files a day and transfer them to a different department and bring files to the vault. ontop of all of that, anyting anyone else in our 30+ person department needs they go to me. when i'm swamped with work no one offers to help me, infact they tell me i'm not working fast enough, yet when they need help they dump it all on me. i know i'm a temp but still, i'm just one person. i often work extra hours to get it all done.
getting back to barbie, she is so slow at sorting the mail she has to deal with that i'm done with all of my morning mail/file pulling before she is even done sorting her mail. yet she tells me i'm fucking up all the time.
i've complained to my boss about how barbie treats me and i got nothing in return.
the best was this past friday. i was on my lunch break trying to get a hold of the doc that ordered my EEG to get my results and was really upset cause him office had closed by the time i was able to take my lunch. ((when i take lunch i sit at my desk and put up a sign that says "out to lunch)) cause i'm normally doing my own paperwork stuff for moving or doctor's. so this one underwriter (they deny/approve loans) comes over to me while i'm on lunch and yells at me for apparently loosing green cards that had been faxed over yesterday. so i stop what i'm doing on my lunch break to try to find them. can't find them. call the branch that faxed them over and have them sent again. she doesn't even fucking say thank you. i wanted to bitch slap her. come to find out at the end of the day from another underwriter that i never lost the green cards, they were at someone else's desk who was dealing with the loan as well.
i fucking hate my job. oh well 11 bucks an hour, close to 40 hours a week. and i'm done december 22nd.

I love the actual work I do, I get to fix stuff, make peoples' homes better, and I get to be creative. What I don't like has to do with people....the clients, the vendors, the inspectors, etc. Working out in the cold, pouring down rain kinda sux too.

I do 4 months school and then 4 months work. School is a bachelor's in poli sci. with honours. Work is as a policy analyst for Health Canada (a federal department). I sit in a comfy chair infront of a computer and write briefings about things people send to me. Sometimes I make phone calls. People ask me things in meetings. Work is 15 minutes away and has a full service cafeteria. Each time I come back I get paid more. I think its $16.something next time. I also receive expanded health benefits and we have about 4 social events a month while on the clock. I like my job, but sometimes people ask really useless questions and there are quite a few ideologues. One time I got really sick and had to take about 2 weeks off. No problem at all. I might keep the job for a while, it depends on whether I choose to get my master's or go into law. Working is definitely easier than school though, at least you get weekends and holidays sometimes.

Cliff notes: no complaints here.

I actually love my job, I get to fix things, install new things, work at a different place each day. The learning neverstops. I've known my boss for 22 years, I have a company truck and a company phone. Pay is decent and i just got a 9,000$ bonus!!!

the only thing that i could possible bitch about is working outside in the cold/heat but you get used to it.

My job is about to get very interesting. Aside from the construction aspects, our company (Parkwest Corp.)is expanding into new ventures. We have the construction, property mainanence/repair, upscale home appliance, Window/siding and remodel divisions, and now we're going into home electronics. Right up my alley! i'll be installing home theatre/vodeo systems and computer controled whole home systems in new construction and retrofit applications. Looking forward to it.
