Is 1and1 the best place still?

I already have a domain name from 1and1..

1and1 isn't bad. I used them for a couple years without problems. Now I use Dreamhost for a lot of my testing on other domains and other than a few hiccups early on it has served me well. Also the control panel is decent and makes testing and maintenence very easy.

Any of those "type" of host will offer about the same performance, and they're all quite massive so you can expect decent overall customer service. I'd say go with whoever offers a good deal and has an attractive site. Avoid godaddy like the plague.

Have used 1&1 for years now with no problems. A little pricier than some, but its reasonable so I've kept it.

They have an inexpensive grid hosting service that for $20 you get tons of power and bw. Check it out, a great up and coming hosting service.

i use hoststock.com. i've had them for years. They have been reliable and I get "unlimited" everything for $30 a year. Not sure what their plans are now a days though.
