| From Utah, NOT mormon | Alright, so let's see here. 3 weeks ago I did a tune-up on my dad's truck (oil, oil/air/fuel filters, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor). I woke up the next morning and in the center of my back, just above my bottom rib, I was sore. It felt like when you go and lift weights and your muscles hurt the next day. So anyway, I figured it was just from working inside the truck engine bay. Fast forward 3 weeks to yesterday. My back has been sore the entire time, but yesterday while on the job with my dad (We work as handi-men for his business), I did something horrible to my back. I was trying to nail a 2x4 to a floor/ceiling joist with a pneumatic nailer (in the basement, nailing to the joists for the ground floor). Well the board was warped a bit so I had to put alot of pressure on it above my head, I felt something pop in my back, and from that point until now (14 hours later) I've had trouble breathing if I'm standing straight up. My muscles in my back and my stomach keep spasming and putting me in more pain than I've ever been in, in my entire life. Thanks to the stomach spasms I can't keep my pain quiet, every time they spasm I make this weird grunting noise that I can't control. My dad thinks I'm being a wuss because of the noises I'm making. I can't afford to go to the doc, so I'm taking 2 tylenol every 4 hours, but it doesn't help at all. Any other suggestions? I've been laying down non-stop, I can only lay on my back and my left side, if I lay on my right it somehow stretches my back just the slightest and I want to die. So ya, suggestions would be great, and don't tell me to go to the doc. My dad hasn't been able to afford to pay me since I started working with him 2 months ago, and I'm not about to go increase his insurance or make him pay for something that he can't afford (he's paying my mom $1300 in alimony a month, she won't pay for my doc visit I already asked). | My E-Penis Is HUGE | Have someone crack your back for you and hopefully it will help. Always works for me |
| All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can. | |

| outside the box! | Rib separation. I know of the pain you speak. i've been in it since febuary. My pain level has gone from 3-9 on a scale of 1-10. I haven't slept more than 5 hours. this is covered under workers' comp, but guess what? The comp company is AIG and is worthless. They've been the most do-nothing company and are ignoring me hoping I go away. I can sit no more than 5 minutes at a time, which sux, because I have a 30 minute commute to the jobsite everyday. I have no choice but to keep working even when most would be flat on thier back. AIG has cost me a bankruptcy IMO. They haven't even done enough to concider it "just enough to get by". I just want my back to quit hurting so i can work. |
![]() unfortunately, it's a fact that there exists "an inconveinient truth". Get out of the box, then recycle it.

If I believed in a god I'd pray for you, but since I don't, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. I can live with this pain for a while, I hope yours goes away. If I could, I'd gladly take your pain and any other T3D members away from you guys. *crosses fingers*

| Saint, Church of Ryanism | I know that many hospitals throw free sports injury clinics. Might not be a bad way to have a doc at least look at you. I hope you and wiskas both get better. Good luck, guys. ~Will Courtier~ |

| Not Just Handsome | Silly as it sounds, maybe you can walk into a hospital pretending not to speak english and get free health care as an illegal alien. |

| Resident Cynic | I dunno how other states work, but in California they have tons of clinics for people with no insurance. If they exist I'd say take advantage of it. Otherwise I'd say stop feeling sorry for your dad and make him use the insurance that he carries for this very reason. Any other employee would sue him at this point. You NEED to see a doctor, if you don't let a back injury heal properly you're going to end up like Wiska's and have chronic back pain until the day you die. |

| Senior Member | I did a quick google search for free clinic/medical camp in Utah. Since that what it say by your name for location. Got some hits. May be you can try to find one that is near your area. I don't know the quality of care there. But some thing is better then nothing. If you young then you should go see doc regardless of insurance. No reason to push your self and make things even worse for your future life. Its unfortunate when the country cant take care of there young generations, and elderly. hope you guys feel better. |
