<s>I'm working on a project for VB.net that's due in a week, and I'm really at a loss for ideas on what to do. I have one decent idea, which I've started working on, so unless someone has a great idea, I'll stick with this.

Anyways, the basics of the app are a food ordering system for my company when we order it lunch. It'll have a database with a few tables. One will have all the items for each place, such as Subway, McDonald's, BK, etc. Second, it'll have a table for people that work in the company. It'll most likely only contain the 7-8 people who usually order, but it'll have the option to add/delete/edit users at will. It'll have their name, department, extension, etc.

Anyways, I'll have an ordering system, where you first choose whether you're ordering breakfast or lunch, then it'll go to the appropriate form, and then you can select the various places where you can order breakfast/lunch. Then you select what place you wanna go to, and then from there, itll start the ordering. You select a person from the drop down list of users, and then the ordering begins. Select the items, sizes, etc. and eventually, how much many they gave, how much their order cost, and how much change is owed to them. User's can order as many items as they want, and an unlimited of users can order.

Anyways, you're able to edit the users database, the price database (ie. add/edit/delete items), and view/print/delete previous orders.

So all this stuff, seems great, but just doesn't seem enough for a final project. Does anyone have any other ideas that I can add to the app to make it a little more beefy? I don't even care if it's adding a "secret" button to play tic-tac-to, but something. I'd prefer something that actually has something to do with the app, but anything is fine. I'm at a loss for ideas.

so ya, thanks </s>

So, thx to Roca <3, i've decided to do a nutritional calculator. something like this. Anything think this is an entirely bad idea?

I don't think you need to get too fancy, but you haven't even covered the basics yet.

First of all, it needs to be connected to the Internet. I know you know, but just a friendly reminder, I mean, what good is a database if it's not connected to the Internet? That's like IT101.

Continuing with the basics, it needs connectivity with Equifax, ChoicePoint, and US Dept of Homeland Security.

It also needs to be integrated with Windows Update, Real Player, and the Global Positioning System, but I haven't thought that through yet. And, obviously, the employees and the meals need to be RFID tagged.

I think if you cover those basic requirements it will be fine. It sounds like a productive application and there's probably no need to have it do more than is required for basic functionality.

Boltsky is in my signature (or at least Paul) at the request of PenisMaster.

I never used any VB version previous to .NET, so I can't even tell you. I have a few ebooks which say what the differences, but I can't be bothered to read up on it. I mean, what does it really matter to me what the differences are
