 Globe Trekker | Just got a fancy letter in the mail, a nomination for my teenager to attend some youth conference in Washington DC, meet our representative, etc. Did some Googling around and while the program appears to be legit, and although the kids do get to rub elbows within the beltway, it appears to be some semi shady for-profit organization.  Likes teh Kittehs. | I got selected for a few thing like that when I was younger. I'm pretty sure it is legit....but the cost is pretty high on those things. My parents agreed I could go on one of the european ones back when I was like 12, but I chickened out (I was a shy little kid back in the day) |

 I'm against that. | Like, Jackalope said, it's legit but expensive. It's basically a long history course/capital tour but they do get to meet officials and from what I've heard it's worth it. I was nominated back in early HS to do it but my parent's couldn't afford it, unfortunately. I'd say have her go for it, it'll look good on college applications, especially if she's doing anything Int. Relations or PoliSci. |
