So heres the deal, internet access in Iran is horribly censored. Its mostly the URL's that are flagged. For example I can go to the thread about music e-penis because of the word penis in the URL. other crap is blocked and the way i got around this the first week i was here was to vpn into my server at home and use my home internet connection. this worked surprisingly well but does not work anymore. i am not sure why it doesnt but it has to do with our ISP company being bought out by another company and on may 30th they made some changes to the network and it hasnt worked since. i emailed the new ISP and they do not block any VPN ports and i have had my sister reboot my modem/router/server and that didnt work, so now i am stuck.

So anyone know of a vpn server that I can connect to and just use the internet connection from it. or anyone know of a pay service?

all is fine here wiskas, thanks for asking. some things that have been sucking is my digital camera is starting to flake on me and wont work every time i want to actually take a picture of something.
other then that i had to deal with my credit card number being stolen and having to call my bank a few times to get that sorted. for the record i have not used my credit card here and it has been in a safe place the whole time, i think it was just a coincidence. maybe it was someone i new that had my CC number some how and decided to use it since i was out of the country, hum.....

edit: yeah i tried a few proxy servers but sites still get blocked by the great firewall of islam. PRAISE ALLAH!

mm.. You can try to RDC to your home PC (or use RealVNC... Same concept: Just use you desktop at home and the computer over there becomes a thin client basically). I don't know of VPN servers though. I'm sure there must be some kind of open source VPN server somewhere...

you'd have to be VPN'd to VNC...

you are my saviour jamsan! i was able to connect to your vpn with no issues. internet is slow here so i shouldn't be a hog on your bandwidth, plus ill use it when its night time for you. i pm'ed you with some questions, you can get back to me whenever. anyway, i owe you one...
