These pics are from this past weekend. We went down to NYC (again) for Fleet Week. We pretty much visited new things, and stayed in the Manhattan Sharitan Hotel. It was a 3 star hotel, located in the Lower East side of Manhattan. We got to take a trip on a cruise boat, that took us around the Statue of Liberty, around the island, and up just past the Brooklyn Bridge. It then turned around, and went back. It ended up being a 2 hour trip in all. Anyway, here are some pics.

View from our hotel room (16th floor)

Carnival Cruise Ship we passed by. This thing was huge!

An old Ship we passed by

The same Ship, plus another

View of the Empire State Building

Pic of the NYC skyline, using long exposure on the camera. I liked the red/white/blue skyscrapers

Another night pic

Another pic of the lights. That obstruction is a pipe in front, as I had to lean against the canopy to get a somewhat still pic.

Effects of a bad NYC fire. Can't remember the date, but firefighters couldn't respond becuase of the traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge

Another pic of the effects of the fire

Pic of a fortress we passed by

Cool sunset pic on the city's horizon

Pier the Titanic was scheduled to arrive at, on April 17, 1912. Of course, it never arrived, so the pier sits bare

Another pic of Titanic's pier

The UN Building

Pic of the old WW2 Aircraft Carrier, USS Intrepid

Another pic of the USS Intrepid

Pic of where one building of the World Trade Centers used to stand

Pic of where the second World Trade Center used to stand

I know, the pics aren't too great. The boat was constantly rocking and rolling with the waves. The night pics were taken using a long exposure time, making it impossible to get a good pic on the boat. It was a great trip, and well worth the cash. The boat tour cost us $25 per person ($50 altogether), and the hotel room was $155 (normally $225). Plus we had train rides to/from, food, taxi rides, and a new purse for my wife. It was a good getaway, but was not long enough...

Fleet week sounds neat, I'd like to Make it to the rose festival in Portland, they have (kinda) a fleet week for that.

Until now, never!before in Earth history, has mass extinction involved a choice.
