That would be the state and city's responsibilities. The fed does the freeway infrastructure. All the various taxes the entities put on fuel....another reason to develope free energy.

Potted roads are a great barometer of the health of the local government and economy though. We get some potholes now and then which are quickly filled, but fucking sink holes? Holy shit Torx, sounds like your area is pretty economically depressed.

We also had that bridge collapse that was all over the news not too long ago.

Well they have the lowest rating in history for a reason after all. You listen to that failure Nancy Pelosi and it's as though you're watching a tv clip from 4 years ago.

Call me crazy, but wouldn't our government just slap taxes on "free energy" if it was a mass use situation, like hydrogen fuel? It seems like anything you can think of that would be used by the majority of American people to power their vehicles, Congress will find a way to tax it, saying they need funds for important social programs such as underwater basket weaving for disaffected overweight youths.

I believe they discourage the developement. After all, it's easier/more cost effective to stick to the one fuel source thay can tax, or pay out tax dollars to develope only fuels that can be metered and taxed. Than to develope new, renewable, unpoluting, most abundant in the universe fuel sources. of coarse they don't want to see HHO succeed! If it does, they'll just do as local guvs do, and hold vital services and extra little services that benefit the taxpayers hostage, up for ransom, to get thier new taxes. besides, when do we get to vote on new taxes? never, it is set up that way for a reason. if HHO could make industry lots of money and lots of tax revenue for the goveernment to squander.....it'd have been done and perfected a long time ago. these technologies have been around for centuries.

FactCheck.org has a bit of a liberal bias by the way. Not horrible, but I wouldn't call them unbiased.
If I could find a fiscal conservative, even if he was an abortion hating, gun hating, gay hating asshole, I'd vote for him. (Basically what you're saying, MSP)

Everyone wants to SPEND SPEND SPEND!

Once again, we're stuck voting for carbon copy candidates.

Also, with exception of the poorest Americans, I'm talking minimum wage, I think it's a load of shit that just because you make more you have to pay a higher rate. It's always seemed really contradictory to the whole free market idea to me. I've loved the fair tax for as long as I've heard of it.

... and concerning those poorest Americans: If you live off of minimum wage without working your way up a ladder somewhere along the way, you're a dumbass and don't deserve a bit of help. Minimum wage isn't meant to live on; it's meant to keep companies from paying $0.15 an hour.

That's all I've got.

Maybe as you've seen the price for oil has dropped suddenly and they're predicting $3.50 by Labor Day. I've seen multiple places speaking of credit being given to Bush for lifting the offshore drilling ban. For instance, McCain credits Bush for drop in oil price

Quote:
Republican John McCain on Wednesday credited the recent $10-a-barrel drop in the price of oil to President Bush's lifting of a presidential ban on offshore drilling, an action he has been advocating in his presidential campaign.
I've seen the price drop where I live, I don't think it will hold obviously, but it got me thinking, if and maybe it's a big if, the lifting of the ban on offshore drilling had this effect, could the do-nothing lowest rated Congress in history that doesn't want to do any actual work, just pretend to take some sort of action to affect the price, maybe debate drilling in ANWAR or offshore, act like they might allow it? They're good at pretending anyways, the least they could do is pretend to help out the American people and maybe cause the price to drop.
