I try not to associate myself with any party, that allows me to keep my views open and my choices unbiased.

If I had to choose I would probably pick the republican party if they actually acted on what their party supposedly stands for but as it stands now, I would have to side with the democrats.

Be very aware of what you read. That site is owned by Steve Milloy. What do we know about Steve Milloy?

Quote:
Steven Milloy is currently a columnist for Fox News. He is also a paid advocate for Phillip Morris[1], and ExxonMobil[2]. From the 1990s until the end of 2005, he was an adjunct scholar at the libertarian Cato Institute.

Milloy runs the website Junkscience.com, which is dedicated to debunking what he alleges to be false claims regarding global warming, DDT, environmental radicalism and ozone depletion among other topics.[3] His other website, CSRWatch.com, is focused around attacking the corporate social responsibility movement. He is also head of the Free Enterprise Action Fund, a mutual fund he runs with tobacco executive Tom Borelli, who is listed as the secretary of the Advancement of Sound Science Center, a nonprofit Milloy operates from his home in Potomac, Maryland .

Milloy holds a B.A. in Natural Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Health Sciences in Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore, and a Master of Laws from the Georgetown University Law Center.[4]

In January 2006, Paul D. Thacker reported in The New Republic that Milloy has received thousands of dollars in payments from the Phillip Morris company since the early nineties, and that NGOs controlled by Milloy have received large payments from ExxonMobil. A spokesperson for Fox News stated, "Fox News was unaware of Milloy's connection with Philip Morris. Any affiliation he had should have been disclosed." The payments are seen as another example of "pundit payola."
Wow, could there be any link to his protest against global warming and being paid by Exxon Mobil?
Good point. One must be careful on where they get their information and it is possible this Steve Milloy is an unreliable source of information.

Nothing special about the hot weather this summer, if anything, we haven't had as much as we usuall do. Last winter, on the other hand, was alot wetter than a usual winter here. And EvanR, I don't believe much of anything I read or hear or see on the news or in media. Those sources are too easily manipulated and are. Truth doesn't need lies to prop it up, so the truth is all that's left in the end after the lies collapse. Most all news systems are more-or-less editorials nowadays.

I haven't found any sources for this yet and if he wasn't from california I'd be more excited (because we all know where a majority of californians stand).

GOP makes conditions on wage increase.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060728/...o/minimum_wage

I'm sure this has been going on forever and I'm sure both parties have done this at one time or another but it's still a dirty tactic no matter whether you are for or against either proposal.

The fact that politicians who have the ability to affect peoples lives use their power for political gains and returning favors is disgusting!

Politics is funny. Humans are funny actually. Stick to family and TRUE friends (not aquaintence friend bullshit or fake ass 2ond hand shit), they are the only people who are real to you.

Socially liberal, financially conservative and all that.

I'm moving closer towards being a total libertarian all the time. I allmost feel that every state should be its own country basically, and not rely on any centralized government b/c the bottom line is, America is too big and diverse to be one unified country. But, that is another discussion.

I wish t3d stays around longer than 15 years so we can comment on it then b/c I don't feel this is the case. If anything, I think America will get fedup with its lacking sense of right/wrong and its movements towards people acting like robots, and either split up into seperate, independant government entities or have a movement towards a better sense of morals/ethics.

I'm starting to think this Iraq crap has to end soon. We can't help people who won't/don't want to help themselves. I believe that factor wasn't concidered in the long-range plan.

Ok we invade Iraq in order to free the Iraqi people yet we know nothing about the Iraqi people. We don't know their languages, customs, religions, mores, etc. And we expect them to make an American style democracy in 5 to 10 years when it took us 200+ years to get to where we are now? I'm sure the Iraqi people have their own ideas of what freedom is and it's not what we are trying to force down their throats. They will have freedom but it will be one they want not the one we want them to have.
