Almost died from choking

Yep... on a ham sandwich. The bite was small enough on the sandwich that there was still some of the little poof that the top of the loaf has was still on the 2 pieces of bread(i'd say the bite was the a bit smaller than 2 thumbs put together). I've taken much mightier bites of more coarse, dense foods but it was ultimately wheat bread, ham, and lite mayo that gave contest to my life.

If my roommate wasn't in the next room to give me the heimlich I'm almost sure I'd be dead. Quite an interesting Sunday. My head still hurts from coming close to passing out from lack of oxygen.

Wow, I haven't had the displeasure of choking on something, hope you're doing ok.

I did however watch my brother choke on some watermelon. He took a bite much too big, and somehow got it lodged in his throat. If we hadn't had our older friend there to do the heimlich I don't know if my brother would be alive today.

I've come close enough when by myself to start tohear weird noises and think on how and where to fall so as to dislodge the offending culinary
enemy. Evidently, as I sit here and write, it worked. I doubled up both fists, placed them tight against my chest, under the rib cage and fell into the countertop.

I don't think I really thought about that until it was over. Really, I was completely focused on getting that food out of my throat. The thing that keeps going on over and over in my head is the look of terror on my roommates face and the noises I made during the struggle.

All of this is quite a shot to the pride, though. I guess with all of my battles with pork, be it bbq, ribs, bacon, ham, or whatever they can do to a pig I had to be defeated once. I just didn't imagine the victor to be 98% Fat Free Honey Ham. (I did eat the rest of the offending sandwich, though)
