I just turned 48 years old and I'm stressing out more than ever. IMO we are in an undeclared recession and it seems to be getting worse. Can't seem to make ends meet and the future looks bleak.

Anyone else feel this way?

Me too...I've not heard any news about an actual recession, just that the economy is stagnant. I dunno, I can be proven wrong as always.

He told us like 4 months ago he had to go get the camera stuck up his ass. You know your getting old when cameras are going up your anus

All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can.

I feel some financial pressure, I'll say that. $30,000 of non-house / non-car debt, a daughter starting college in 4 years, etc.

But I don't feel bleak about the future at all. Not financially anyway. Ask me about my marriage and maybe...

On an oddly relevant note, I took the wife to the Syndicate tonight and won almost $100,000 at the blackjack table. Sadly it was phony money, I can never win like that when it's for keeps.

I hear ya Heavy D. I just retired fromt the Air Force after 22 years. I have a six year old and living in Hawaii. To make a long story short, I thought I'd be back to work as a civilian in my old job in a month but nine months later the paperwork is just starting to flow. I'd move back to the mainland but my job skills are only good in SEA. You know what SEA means from the nutjob thread . I was around for a short while in the late 90s mostly looking for help building my first rig, people were getting banned left and right and T3D wasn't a great place to be. Kudos on what you guys have done to the place since, what a great forum. Thought this would be a good thread for my first post.

Welcome Krod, awhile back I saw a thread "how old are you?" and there was more than one comment about age, many referring to MSP as old, IIRC he's 36, I could be wrong, I'm told the memory goes but I can't remember where, In the past few days 3 new members in the older brackets have joined, and you mention how this forum has "matured"?
Watch out kids, you're gettin older too!

I'm 47 btw

I've felt very preasured since the dotcom crash. There is no retiring now. At 50, I'm looking at bad health, bad back and a bad attitude. But what the hell,
they can only kill you once...right?
Indeed! Welcome krod. This place has changed mucho since I lurked in 99. We owe all the thanks to Dan, Chappel and the others that work behind the lines. They've turned this into a nice place to spend time, schmooze and learn.
As for the topic, when it all falls apart, I do know how to survive living in the wilds, guys like Fiddy and Dan would have no problem either, if society were to come crashing down. The day will come, when the simple skills and tallents will pay off.

I recommend a vacation. You probably can't afford it right now, but getting away and recharging is probably exactly what you need. I could use one myself. What do you say we pull a Bucket List and go together?

I find that no matter how much I work, I always seem to get behind. Problem is, I have a wife that doesn't really want to work in her current job (a home daycare), so we're struggling. And I'm 28...shouldn't be struggling at my age.

Then again, I've got two kids, a bunch of debt, a house I'm paying for, and two cars. And I'm somehow managing to do all that plus regular bills, all on my meager salary, with a 2% being contributed by my wife.

I wish! This year I drove down to Florida for a week, that was it. The days of be going to the Caribbean 3-4 times a year are over I'm afraid. At least for now. Once I knock out some debt and get a travel buddy that isn't a deadbeat I'll be back in action.

I don't need no stinking vacations...shit I had one in '91. Not counting my one year savatical into the wilderness. But that wasn't so much a vacation as it was an alternative to commiting an act of insecticide. I heard she's become a drunken bitch that no one likes being near without wanting to
bust her in the chops. To that I ask: "So she drinks?"
