I just got one a few days ago, I love it. It scratches easily though, but yea.. i just love it = ].
The battery life while watchign videos isnt very long, you can probably watch for about 3 hours on a fully charged battery.

Ah crap the Just wait speech.... Any info on what might be featured on the new one? I reallllly want one. The only thing I find suck is the fact that 3 hours of life for videos, but the main concern is listening to music.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm much more concerned with the battery life than the size of the ipod.

3 hours of play time? That's bullshit. When things like the original gameboy had battery lives measured in the weeks, you'd think with the progression of technology and the use of lithium ion batteries and what not, that we'd be seeing longer batter lives, not shorter.

If you think about it, yeah you can kill a few minutes here and there listening to a song or two. But when it comes to videos, chances are you're going to be in a position where you'll need to kill more time than just a few minutes. i.e. long car rides, flights, or waiting at the dmv.

I have a 30 gig ipod video and I love it. Videos look great on it.. really surprised me.
Battery life isn't the greatest when playing videos but is probably are par with my PSP or similar devices.

well since its a apple product the "just wait" speech is fine. the next one is MIGHT have wireless transfering and is going to have a tougher screen so it doesnt scratch as easy. there already coming out with a nano with that feature so the ipod video version has got to be very soon

Just buy it. By the time the new version comes out it could be a while, and they'll be hard to get, and they might not be as good anyway (the rumored touch screen makes me wonder). For $269 you can't go wrong, I love mine and it's just the G4 (no color or video).

my less-than-one-month-old 30gb video ipod just up and stopped working the other day. I went to the apple store (the only fucking apple store in manhattan, I might add) and the guy couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. So he tells me they'll replace it, goes away from the counter for like 15 minutes, and comes back and tells me their out of stock.

THE ONLY FUCKING APPLE STORE IN MANHATTAN DOESN'T HAVE ANY GOD DAMN IPOD VIDEOS.

So I should have my new one in about a week.
