And it's getting pretty good reviews. Anybody play with one of these? I've been holding out for the Dell 24 inch to go on sale but this one is pretty tempting...

it looks pretty nice. It has component video hook-up which can be used for HD content. For a few hundred more you can get the 24 inch dell. And I would be willing to bet the price of the Dell will be dropping very soon. It has been on the market pretty long now and I heard Dell was coming out with a 30" to match the apple display. But That Gateway looks nice for the price. I paid 400 for my 20" dell, but it doest have component video. Happy with that resolution, 1680x1050 too.

The killer, and the reason I'll probably pass on this one, is the warranty. 1 year versus Dell's 3 year warranty. Plus Dell's is 3 inches bigger AND has a built in memory card reader. And the knock out punch is that I'm Dell certified and could order my own replacement if something were to go wrong. No wasting time on the phone trying to convince some dude from India that I have too many burnt pixels...

I'll wait and see for now. I can get the Dell shipped for $950, and as you said that is likely to drop very soon.

Ohhh god... So so nice. And it could be used for gaming!

That and a good sound system would make me cream for like 3 days.

I actually just saw that Gatway monitor at Costco yesterday. Looked great but did not feel nearly as sturdy as my brothers 20" Dell. It did not feel cheap, just not as solid. I'd still like to have one

Well, if history repeats itself they'll offer it for 35% off at some point. And that would make it a sale item at $1,300! You wouldn't pay $1,300 for a 30 inch LCD monitor? Hell, even used as a TV that would be a good price.

It would be too big for my desk though, the 24 inch model is already pushing it. So I'll just wait for the 24" to go on sale I think.

I’m still trying to get myself a 20 inch dell, there were some great deals on Ebay but I waited to long and now all the prices are high because of x-mas.

Hopefully after x-mas I’ll order myself one if I get a good deal, I’m also a little sour on ebay right now because I just got a keyboard that was DOA and the box looked like someone played soccer with it.

The store is RMAing it at there cost including the shipping and getting me a new one, and I know its not there fault, but it still makes your weary of ordering online whenever something like that happens. I guess it comes with the territory though

Oh man, now I'm really torn. Circuit City has the Gateway 21" for $527, and I can get it with a four year warranty and shipped for $600. $400 less than the Dell and with a better warranty now. What should I do?

Hey Fiddy, what did Costco charge for them?

The warranty is 4 years if Gateway stays around that long.

The extra four year warranty was with Circuit City, so Gateway folding would not affect me.

I would get that, or hold off a little longer for that 24" dell. That Dell is bound to drop to 600 soon.
