two white wheels not one help

Hi, I had disc read errors and I opened up the PS2 and I don't have one white gear but two separate white gears. I have tried adjusting these and thought I was close, reads blue CD and at one point recognized a DVD and started to play it but then I lost and I am back to just reading the blue CD. Am I suppose to adjust both white gears simutainously?

Yes, but only on the tech forums and the news comments. I also blame BrentN for whatever reason.
