I have a ps2 that has stopped working, all it gives me is "no data" I have opened the case and cleaned the laser, while it was open I plugged it in and put in a disc, it seems to spin fine and the laser is working (it lights up and moves) however is does not seem to move back and forth really good (it moves and gets stuck in one spot) i moved the laser all the way out to the edge and it did not move back to the inside of the disc, I noticed that the cable to the laser seems to have a dark spot on it (maybe it is burnt?) here is a pic.

the other side of the cable does not have any marks or obvious broken wires. They sell cables online for about 10$, is that maybe my problem if not what could it be, I have no problems tearing this thing apart further to fix it.
