| Junior Member | My PS2 stopped reading discs. I thought the lens was dirty so i cleaned it, but it turns out the little disc spinner thing isnt spinning. It'll turn a little bit and stop. Is there anything I can do to fix it or should i just buy a new PS2? Oh I have the 30001 model if it helps. |

| Junior Member | I have a similar problem, someone else posted your problem as well. I found that mine will eventially start spinning if I let it wait a few minutes. I do not know what causes it, but check at the similar post and see if any the info there helped? |

| Chief Webologist | That may be a bad spinner motor. How much does it turn? You specify a little, but is it enough for the lens to read and try to recognize the disc? If so there may be another problem causing that error, making it seem like the spinner is broken. I have never diagnosed this problem. You can buy replacement parts, though, to fix whatever's broken. If you can find another PS2 for under $50 (or maybe parts of one |

| Junior Member | can't speak for Jimbooo but mine will spin a 1/4th turn twice... and do nothing for about a minute or two.. and then start spinning on it's own. It can sometimes boot blue cds and will find silver, but when I try to run the silver, the screen turns black before going back to the previous screen. As for the spinner motor, I don't see how it can be removed? I've replaced the motor on the side that adjusts the laser forward and back, thinking that maybe the laser wasn't moving <and it seemed the only thing that was really replaceable. The unit is a scph 30001 |

| Junior Member | I have a similar problem. My Ps2 was working OK except for GT4. I opened it up to clean the lens and also to adjust the height of the lens. I played a couple of games while the ps2 was opening after I adjusted the height, it worked. Then after cleaning the laser, the discs wont spin. Althought they do spin but for very short durations and about four times. If there isnt any disc it spins just a single time? Any clues about this one? |

| Junior Member | No it's not spinning at all, that's why I think it doesnt even know it is supposed to be closed, so, 1 of the switch is not closed, because the ps2 slim use 3 switch to tell him the door is closed. When u buy a swap boot disc, they told you to "block" 3 switchs so you can open the door without the ps2 knowing, wich enable you to swap the disc. But I don't see the third switch at all! I see the one on the top left side, I see the one down right, but there is another one near the cd diameter, top right of it. If someone could only check where those 3 micro, mini actually are, it would help me very much because I could "close" the circuit permanently. Nobody has a diagram of the ps2? Thx Jim |

| Junior Member | Well, if you must really know, the switches are located... A: on the reset button circuit board. It's a little plastic edge that bounces up and down on the opposite side of the reset button. B: Disc brake is located on the actual lid of the PSTwo. It has a little white square "brake" on it, i's easy to find. C: Open your PSTwo if you want to actually see the switch. It's right next to the CD tray screws at the top, and looks like a small black box, which has the same plastic edge that bounces up and down. |
