| Junior Member | Hello everybody, My brother gave me his old PS2 unit (3004) which he not used anymore because it was defective. He bought a new PS2 (slim) console. The old unit broke down instantly and did not read any cd anymore. The unit has a modchip installed, so I want to try to get it working again, so I can toss out my old PS1. I opened the unit and cleaned the lens and everything looks fine in the unit. But it does not boot any CD (PS2 title); I see the CD centerpiece (above white), but It does not rotate. So it is not booting the CD. To make it worse, my brother rotated the white gear and changed the position of the laser. So what can I check to get the CDdrive running again and how can I reposition the laser? I can make photos/avi's etc. from it, if needed. Thanks in advance, Maurice Who hopes the PS2 can be saved. |

| Junior Member | Hello, After playing around with the white gear (I turned it round in every position !) I did not get the drive to respond to disc; it does following in the browser menu : Reading CD... 1 x clicksound (center piece rotates very shortly) Then No data error. So what could it be? It does not pick up the CD at all. Maurice |
