| | No cable? | permalink #1 |
| Junior Member | Hi, some of my games wouldn't load anymore so after finding the ps2 repair guide yesterday I also opened up my ps2. I was verrrry carefull because I read the warning about the fragile cable which connects the cover with the ps2. However, I opened the cover further and further, and suddenly the cover snapped off. I was affraid I broke the cable, but there was no cable at all.. Besides that there also was no white gear which I could adjust. On the left and right side of where the white gear is supposed to be (as seen on the photos) were 2 small white gears, but I couldn't adjust those at all. But I cleaned the inside, cleaned the laser with some alcohol and to my surprise all my games work again So thanks for the guide, but it seems there are a couple of different ps2 models. Didn't read anything about a no-cable version in the guide so maybe you could mention that in the guide. Regards Andre | |

| Tweak3D Webmaster | I have seen that problem before. What model # is your PS2? It should say on the back-side. I want to update the article to include all versions of PS2 (including the slim models) but need to gather more info. | |

| Junior Member | Dude this is totally the issue I have. Major differences to most guides include: No cable attached to cover Only 2 screws to get into the drive itself not 4. No big cog to adjust, just 2 small ones It makes following guides very very difficult. I believe it is a version 9, and certainly not slimline. | |

| Tweak3D Webmaster | Maybe I should create a "Send me a broken PS2" thing for the site -- a lot of people could benefit if I had a couple more PS2s to play with, and I could send them back if I fixed them. Hmm... | |
