after playing a game on my slim ps2, I went to turn it off and the static electricity zapped the ps2....now it will only have the red light on and I cannot get it to go green, so am I stuck with with a paper weight now or can I fix it?

Sounds fried to me? I have a ps2 that has the same symptoms but is the full sized console. I think the main board is fried <has 2 boards, the smaller one plugs into the bigger one>. I can't imagine it getting ficed without replacing the main board.

Have you tried another power adapter yet? Maybe borrow one from a friend ... then at least you'll know if it's a $20 part or the whole unit that may be bad. That's a good starting point.

I'm Tweak3D's self-appointed mayor.

You can probably go on ebay, find a broken PS2 that powers up that is the same model as yours and swap it out that way... their really isn't any way I know if to buy it seperate. But I know nothing about the Slim design myself... the design I'm familiar with is the big bulky variety and I have now idea how it compares to the little one. Anyhoo... broken slims can be found all over the place on Ebay, and that'd probably be your best bet. I'd probably look for one with a DRE if you decide to that still powers up, and just try to swap the cd drives... if you feel comfortable doing all that.
