Help! my PS2 now cannot close it's tray.I opened and followed the cleaning and repair guide. At first my unit played a ps1 disc and audio, but the Ps2 discs does not.So i quit and reassembled my unit, since it can now play ps1 discs,it doesn't matter. But now after i played "theme hospital",i ejected it to play "castlevania".When i push close the tray, there it happened,it won't close.i tired many times but still it won't close. The tray is functioning, but the thing is it does not stay close.helpp!

Usually when this happens it's because the silver cable inside the unit is getting jammed in the tray somehow when it closes. Take the screws out of the bottom, remove the top, and try it again. If it still jams check the tray mechanism to find out what's up. If it works OK at this point, reassemble the unit carefully, keeping an eye on that cable so it doesn't get caught when the tray opens and closes.

Yeah the silver cable tends to get jammed on the side where the tray closes.

wow,it works! i never would have imagined that silver thingy's the culprit,i just got back so i just read this a then i tried it.whew! you know what i just touched it and carefully put back the cover and powered it up.tray came back to normal.thanks a lot dude.however, the unit still only plays ps1 games and not ps2's.i wonder why?btw,i have two units so this ones gonna be just sitting for a while.oh, i just have one more question if you don't mind..i read in "how to repair a ps2" about pushing "reset".what does it do? does it resets it to it's factory default settings? does it affects my units modification? thanks for the help again dude, you saved my unit's life.
