Cd tray placement is off

I have two ps2 units and both only open and close partially. The trays where removed by someone else and weren't put back correctly. now i am having problems trying to figure out why they only open or close a little. thanks for any help

ok.same thing was happening to mine.well,what i di was i got angry at it and i started hitting it.it went in all the way back and when i pressed the open button
it worked!
