| Hiya. Different PS2's have different arrangements for the power plug. Some look attached to the cd drive (i.e. 50001 units) while others have the plug set in the top shell. IF the ribbon is intact <not tore> in order to fix this you'll need to plug the opposite end back into the bottom circuit board. The way to do this is to first remove the power button from the top piece further dissemble your unit.
First you need to seperate the bottom shell from the circuit board/drive. The way to do this is to unscrew the two screws holding in the joystick/memory card plug. It has a ribbon hooking it in that's held by a little plastic clamp upon the plug. You neat to open the clamp <I can manage it with a finger nail> and the ribbon will slide out. You then need to unattach the back piece holding the power plug and the case fan. Two screws hold this in, one at the fan and one on the left side behind the power plug. CAREFULLY slip the power plug out, then carefully slip the fan out.. <it'll be a little tight, if you can't get the fan out that way.. start by taking the plastic piece and pull it up gently and slide the fan out.> With those out, you should be able to grab hold of the board and lift it up out of the shell. On the cd side look for some ribbons that line up with plugs, one should be empty... that's yer plug.
Different Model PS2s can be different, but that should do it. You might use a pair of needlenose pliers or tweezers <careful with the pliers> to help get the plug in.. Give a light tug... very light to make sure it's in good.... and replace the parts you removed <which also fastens it back to the bottom part of the case> You might leave the top cover off and plug in to the wall outlet to make sure the buttons light up... if so.. then yer fixed.
If your cable is BROKE and not just unplugged, then your more or less screwed. |
