My ps2 luck I swear, has not changed in the 3 times that I have had to purchase one.

Lets set something straight. The PS2 is the worst dvd player in existance at the moment right now. Its just terrible. For all you guys that say "I have no problems with mine" you are either very lucky, or you don't watch a movie or two everyday like I do.

My first ps2 was the Ver4 series with GT3 bundle. From day one I had problems reading dvd's with the common "cannot read disk error" to skipping and stuttering throughout a movie. There is the 1/3 movie that will read perfectly and I have no problems.

My second ps2 was after my first had a mod chip that failed after a year. I did a swap at my work for the demo model and I think it was a ver5 can't remember but I also don't remember having dvd problems with it. This is primarily becuase I wised up and bought a panasonic dvd player that I used all the time.

Bought my third ps2 with a modchip from modchip.ca about two years ago, never used it as a dvd player until just a couple months ago. My panasonic had died (motor failure) and I had to use the ps2 until I wanted to buy a real dvd player. I went out and bought a remote and decided that I could use it for at least a few months until I was ready to break down and buy a new dvd player. Big mistake.
Just like my first ps2, about 1/3 movies would play, most would not read, most would stutter or skip and there were the few that worked.

Anyone else have these problems?

Mine doesn't have any problems, but with my friend's slim it is hit or miss.
