I can't get my 50001 v9 to read blue bottomed discs. I have gone through the guides but the white gear step is different. I have two gears like this.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I have this model as well. I've tried everything else, so I'd like to attempt the laser adjustment... if only anyone knew how on the SCPH-50001.

I had the same problem with my son's PS2 50001. I did the cleaning but ran into the same alignment problem with having 2 cog wheels instead of 1. Looking at Buzz's picture below, See the pin hole on the cog wheel - turn both until they are aligned under the metal clip that is connecting to the cog wheel outer spoke. Looking straight down you should be able to see the pin hole beneath the middle opening of the clip. I reassembled and it works great.
