| Junior Member | Hello, I'm really racking my brain trying to figure this one out. A friend of mine decided that when he got a DRE on a few games on his ps2, he would try messing with the three screws on the laser unit. This has totally messed up the alignment of the laser. Well, then he decided to give it to me as he got a slim ps2 a few months ago. Now, I'm going to point out the screws he messed with: ![]() He may have also messed with the black hex screw that rides on the left rail. Any suggestions on how to readjust it would be appreciated. Also, if I was to buy a new laser as a last resort, would it come prealigned? (I dont expect the laser voltage pots on the bottom to be calibrated.) Thanks! |

| Junior Member | I don't know much about that model of laser, but I do know on the KHS-400C I've taken out just about every screw and put them back and it hasn't adversely effected the lasers. Generally their is screw that holds a white piece that connects to copper wires that suspend the laser between two magnets. The 400 c has four screws holding a the magnet set up ontop of the bottom lens. Their is a screw on one side that adjusts the laser height against the metal rod it sits on, and a screw that holds on the arm that moves along the motor to slide the laser forward and back. There are also a screw/screws on the bottom that hold on a quasi-flexible circuit board looking thing and beneath it is a mirror and the bottom of the bottom lens. The screw next to the lens shouldn't hurt anything, the two on the bottom.. I really don't have those on mine, so I'm not sure. Not sure if I helped or not? |

| Junior Member | those two side screws have springs on them... I'm thinking that they are for some sort of angle adjustment... |

| Junior Member | The 400B has something like that, the C has no "spring" as far as I can tell though. The B has a spring ontop wih a small phillips head and the bottom is a star and it looks like it has a smaller spring pushing up from the bottom. Anyhoo.. sorry I didn't help. |

| Junior Member | Alright, it looks like the screw next to the lens is only a support screw, ment to be fully tightned. Also, the long screw next to that other one is another screw that is supposed to be tightened fully also. from what i can tell, the smaller screw next to it is an adjustment for that side. also, there is a simular screw on the other side of the lens (diagonally). the spring on the long screw is to allow movement of the lens assembly. I hope this helps you guys help me |
