Oh god no. The hosts look terrible. I will give it a chance though, I suppose.

I think half the reason I like Top Gear is the British humor it has. The hosts look alright, I liked Corolla on The Man Show but that wasn't too sophisticated of a show, to say the least. Can he or the home improvement guy drive though? I'll definitely give the show a chance but I'm not expecting much.

Adam Carrola? The three things he's got going for him on car knowledge are his name sounds like a car, he drives an S4 (ooooo), and most people want to run him over with one? He sounds perfect to host this!

I think that Adam Carolla is hilarious... He should be a good host... I absolutely loved him in The Man Show....

NOOOOOoooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
please no, i dont wanna see top gear be popularized over here. I want it to remain a niche brit humorous show for only us that go out of our ways to find the episodes..

man what do WE have to laugh about?? our own cars?? theres sure as shit no way we can poke fun of overseas cars...

Top Gear US taking the piss out of us brits! bring it on

The UK top gear team don't have to work to hard to take the piss out of us brits

Case in point: The episode where the team go caravaning, which is a cheap UK equivalent of the US RV camping scene. Its hilarious and involves caravans, tents, toilet humour and the fire brigade. I hope thats criptic enough to make you want to watch.

ps. will try and find link to episode and post later.

Tanner Foust is a cool dude, I met him at Infineon Raceway. And of those guys, at least he's a known driver/racer, so it should be interesting to see how they mesh. Adam C. isn't bad, it could be a lot worse.

The real problem I see is that American cars are sooooo boring nowadays. For every good car that comes here, five lighter/faster cars are sold elsewhere. Maybe we'll see some sweet NASCAR roundups, Tahoe vs. Explorer Hybrid shootouts and so-on.

Let's hope it's actually a decent show.

I think you guys have this all wrong.

Here is a good commentary from Andy Wilman on the foreign versions of Top Gear (he works for the UK one)

Quote:
So will we satisfy the US diehards? Dunno, but partly it’s up to them. If they just compare everything in the US show to what Jeremy, Richard and James do, they’ll be disappointed, because those three did get their first and they are the bollocks at it.

If, on the other hand, they take Top Gear US for what it is - a bunch of guys, hopefully with their own proper relationship, just looking at car stuff in America, but in the Top Gear way - they may like it. And our version will always be there anyway.
TGTV update: the foreign versions - Top Gear

Also, new season of top gear starts on sunday, fucking EXCITING!

I hope they do their own thing and don't just rehash everything that's been done before.

What's more, I worry they'll misjudge the reason Top Gear is so great. It's the content that gets people interested. The hosts merely make what's interesting, entertaining. But without the great content you have nothing; when you rely on your entertaining hosts to keep people watching you have nothing (such was the downfall of Mythbusters).

downfall of mythbusters?? wah?

the hosts are hilarious, especially tory, and the experiments are quite entertaining for it being Americanized science

top gear usa, is going to suck and im not going to give it a chance.. unless they really try to spur on electric and alternative vehicles. Its gonna be an hour of american auto advertisements.. something most already have to put up with on TV

Mythbusters is a joke compared to what it once was.

i think we all knew the "elite uppers" would eventually get frustrated with there being some actual scientific knowledge being propagated on tv..

so i knew it was inevitable for it to be dumbed down sooner or later.
disc venturing further from science than it ever has.. for instance..

what does crab fishing and dirty jobs have to do with science?? cmon! fuck

yeah i couldn't agree more. He seemed like a nice fella. He's obviously a real driver at least and I think he'll probably fair well. I still wish they wouldn't try and copy the best BBC TV show ever;( The UK one stands well here on its own merrit.
