So...
my insurance is sky-high. ~$500/mo. It basically goes down no matter what else I drive. Some examples:
-$110/mo for a 2001 Porsche Boxster
-$40/mo for a 97 911 Carrera
-$37/mo for a 2001 Corvette

I also finally paid off my car (06 envoy xl) the other month and have the title in-hand.

I want to get rid of it. Don't want to spend more than $20k (maybe $25k if it is something awesome.) The new car has to relatively reliable (As far as routine maintianance goes - i am not planning on abusing it). As long as it isn't a ferrari or some shit, insurance is a non-issue.

Suggestions? Emphasis on luxury, performance is a close second (I am going to look at a boxster on Tuesday.) Sedan, covertible, etc. whatever. (not another fucking SUV though)

Maybe they're trying to boost Chevy's sales?

That's an insane price. For my truck and motorcycle I only pay about $1k a year.

if your primary forcus is luxury, seconded by performance I'd be looking at a bimmer(M3/M5?) for sure.

I've never like the boxer, I don't really know why. I like the Cayman.. but not the boxer.

If your insurance is so high because of your tickets won't it stay high regardless of what you are driving?

I'm trying to evolve.

You can get an 02 BMW M5 for around 21-22k.

Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. But it rocks absolutely, too.

I don't really follow this logic either, how is getting a new vehicle going to change your insurance when it's high because of how many tickets you have on your record?

i think what hes saying is driving an Envoy is more expensive than driving a older sports car like an 02 M3, 01 Vette, or a boxter so why not enjoy the vehicle now because its cheaper on the insurance than the Envoy

You might want to check the service/tune-up costs on a Boxter before you buy, I have a friend who owns one in Honolulu and it's outrageous.

the insurance lady said its basically a matter of "he is inevitably going to get in a huge accident - what vehicle will do the least damage?"

f150 - $50 more a month
suburban is roughly the same

i found a boxster i think i am going to buy...we will see this weekend

i did a bunch of research, it seems reliable, maintanence isn't THAT bad, plus its a fucking porsche

I think you should atleast test drive some other cars dude, seriously.

in the end, fuck what people on the internet say. Buy whatever you enjoy, but atleast make sure you check out your options.

M3,M5, something AMG, S4, try an S2000 even. NSX!?(this is the right choice btw :P)

There are so many cool cars out there, if you are one of the good few reasonable people out there willing to blow a bunch of money on really expensive, impractical, terrible on expensive gas sports car, go check out all the awesome options before you pick one.
