so my friend has an 2002 accord, but he wanted a new head unit, was wondering if just changing the head unit would improve sound quality/volume/bass even with stock speakers, and if it was easy to install, i thought those things were pretty much plug and play? or is there soldering required?

It can improve the sound if the built in pre-amp is rated higher as far as wattage output per channel rms. That is of course if your stock speakers are decent quality/condition. I believe all Honda's stuff is non-label Alpine but pretty low quality. As far as installation goes, if it is a standard DIN it is only a matter of pulling out the old unit and installing the correct harness for the unit brand/vehicle make and sliding the new unit in with the sleeve installed. If you can follow directions, installing the sleeve and unit is pretty much straight-forward. The harness re-routes the existing pwr/gnd wires aswell as the speaker signal and ground wires to the correct pins on the new head-unit.
