2001 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4x4

There is my ad, I'd like some feedback on if I can improve it in any way.

I just need to get rid of the thing before gas gets any higher, it may be tough to sell though...

I'm looking at Subies, either a Legacy wagon or Impreza wagon.

TOTALLY REPORTING YOU AS A DRUNK DRIVER!

Seriously, if you don't get any bites on Craigs put it up on Cars.com and/or eBay. If you do put it up on Cars.com I really suggest opening a Grand Central account as there's a couple services that crawl the site and call you repeatedly because they want to sell your car for you.

Doh

So its on now, suckas. I just posted it, and I ALREADY HAVE 4 PEOPLE ASKING ABOUT IT!! I had no idea there was demand like that or that my price was so low. I don't know what to do, should I raise the price? Is that wrong to do? I actually still need to do one or two things to it before I can sell it, before I show it even. I posted it now because I thought it may take a few days for a bite since gas just passed $4 in Seattle this week!

I need advice people!

If you can get the $12K, take it. People will try and low ball you, just tell 'em the price is firm and it should eventually work itself out.

Carmax is a pretty good barometer for what people are actually paying, check out their listings.

I'm not surprised, it's an awesome truck and had I not just bought a car and were you in Colo I'd consider buying it from you.

For your potential buyers maybe emailing them and saying that you got an offer for $13,000 ($1000 more than you're asking) and whether they'd be willing to meet that price since they were the first to respond. Also, find out how they'll be paying whether cash or financed.

LOL, yah one guy offered to pay me $150 a month! I'm not a freaking bank, I said in my post I'm a student, I don't take the 7-year plan, especially with no interest!

Not only that it had poor grammar and came from an AOL email address

well I hope you have better luck than I do. i put my Explorer up on craigslist last week for half the blue book value and have only had one person interested in it so far. And they sounded like they didn't even want to give me the asking price lol.

good news is that my ex-wife is giving me back my 2003 Mazda Protege that I got before we were married but she took in the divorce. the car is still in both our names and she was paying my mother for it but I guess she hurt herself and hasn't been driving it because she can't. anywho, so I get that car back. don't have to worry about a loan now or anything! i hope she doesn't back out though. she has said this in the past but I think she means it this time as she can't drive it because of her injury. I don't look forward to seeing her again though. I haven't spoken to her since the divorce 2 years ago...

Jesus christ, my ad has been up for less than 12 hours and I already have had SIX people asking me about it.

Maybe I should raise the price a bit...

You could be a little risky and play the OBO card. Tell them you have an offer for a little over the asking price and see what the other guys do.

BTW: goodluck selling it. It looks like it's in great shape and definitely worth the 12grand.

The OP says he's got it narrowed down to a LesMobile or an Impreza Wagon.

LesMobile? No, the prime lesbian car is the Subaru Forrester!

But yah, I'm looking at a Subaru because I want AWD/4x4 for snow driving when skiing or going to my cabin. I like the Legacy because it is still fairly spacious, but they are not easy to find in the range I'm looking at because of high demand, but maybe I should just go extra small and get an Impreza wagon. They seem like fun little cars....

well i guess because she is injured and hasn't been driving it for months and she is only getting paid like 60% of her wages at her job, she doesn't have the extra money to pay for a car that she can't even use.

So I re-listed it at $13,500 or best offer.

I guess I should have just aimed high to start with and lowered from there, but I had no idea the demand was still so high!

Edit: And now I have someone coming at 2pm to look at it and seems very interested.

Oh yeah. I scrolled right on past it apparently.

Neither gets great gas mileage, do they? Better than the 4Runner, but still.

Well, its sold.

Guy was kind of weird and pushy about it because he wants it by Friday (hell, he said he wanted to drive off today) and I still need the stereo changed out.

Any tips on this stage? I told him I want a certified check ("well, a personal check would be easiest for me...") but he is fine with that.

How do I make sure it is sold 'AS IS' with no responsibility on my behalf once the sale is final?

Type out a complete bill of sale (two copies, one for you and one for him). State the following:

I, (your name) hereby sell a (year, make, model of vehicle) of the VIN number (12321312) that is (color) in color to (his name) for the value of ($$$$). It is understood that the vehicle is being sold as is, with no warranty expressed or implied.

Then place a block below for both you and your buyer to sign. It also is not a bad idea to leave space for his address and phone number. Print out two copies (one for you and one for him) and ensure both are signed by both of you.

My dad and I have bought and sold numerous cars, and have had this come back to bite us on the ass many times. Just making up a simple contract with two copies should pretty much quell any chances of him doing anything to you at all. Also, it looks very professional and generally people won't try to push their luck if you look like you've done this a million times before.
