| Tweak Minion | So I need to sell my bird. I know people say I can drive it in winter, but you come to North Dakota and I'm sure you'll change your mind. Everyone I know that has them says it's one of the worst cars they've driven in the winter. So I plan is to try to get around $6000 for my car, and then I want to get a small pickup like a 97 or newer S-10 or a Dakota. Now I assume if I go we these I will have to get 4wheel drive or I will be in the same situation? A 4cylinder S10 would be nice because of the price and gas mileage, but I'm guessing i wouldn't be much better off than with my car, or am I wrong. |

| Habitual line stepper | I know our old ranger loved to go sideways in the sand and rain. It would probably do the same in snow, but to a worse degree. I've driven a Firebird in the snow too, its fun. I would suggest 4 wheel drive, a truck is so light in the back its just gonna want to slide. |

| Senior Member | 2wd Truck would be worse than your F-body for snow. You should just keep the Firebird. If you absolutely have to get a 2wd, load the back up with sand bags or other ballast. About 400lbs helps plant the back end. |

| Tweak Minion | It's just not a good car for here. I haven't driven in a couple of months. I don't think I could even get it out of the garage if i wanted to. |

| Former Alcoholic | yea your probably looking at 4000 - 4500 for the bird trucks are worse in the snow unless your have a 4x4 and you still prolly need sand int he back |

| Tweak Minion | Well for some reason they go for alot more around here. There's one at a dealer for $5500 and it's 2 years older than mine and has 10000 more miles. Anyone with half a brain would buy mine for $500 more. |

| I Get It For The Low | Dealer markup, you know how much someone got for a trade on that probably 3000 or less. |

| Tweak Minion | Ya I know, but I found that listed on the net, and I'm gonna list mine on the same site. Maybe someone will be interested. I can always lower it. |

| Tweak Minion | I don't know...I'm undecided again. I keep wanting to sell my car, and then I look at all the other options that are on the net of cars I can buy if i do sell it, and then I change my mind. Nothing out there interests me, unless it is way more expensive. I have not tried adding sand to the back (actually I haven't even looked at my car since november). How much will the sand actually help? Enough to justify keeping my car? Also how much sand will i need? One of the reasons I haven't driven my car is because the parking lot at my apt is glare ice, and I have to be pushed into the garage. Will the said make it possible for me to drive in on my own? Or is it just a dream that can never come true |

| Tweak Minion | Well I got it out this this week and got some sand in it. It works damn good too. I drove it back home from college too, and there were some shitty parts on interstate, and it still scared me a little, but everything worked out fine. I just slowed down to 70 instead of 85 and I didn't go in the ditch :P I think my car actually handles better than my GF's FWD on the ice. |

| I grew up here | how long have you had this car and not put sand in the back? |

| Tweak Minion | Well the last I drove it was in November, in an rain/snow/ice storm. I had to drive over 100 miles on glare ice, and it kinda scared the shit outta me. So I put it in the garage and my roomate drove me around. But it wasn't a big deal caz we have the same school schedule, and it was cheaper for me haha. |
