I own an automatic cheap-o Chevy Prizm which gets the job of getting me from home to my work/school/party done while saving some mullah in fuel.
lately I began to shiftdown just like I did in my old Manual Ford Contour, but I'm concerned that might mess up the tranny. Is that so? Should I be concerned about the sucler blowing up on my or it doesn't matter? I've read about how these work with the double planetary system and whatnot, but that didn't help me to find and answer to the riddle...
So, could you o-all-wise fellow tweakers help on this one?
Thankzzzz

Nah, that won't damage anything at all (seeing as you aren't revving th episs out of the motor in between shifts). The tranny is made to do that! Don't worry...

Don't worry, it's a Toyota transmission, it should take any beating you give it. Just don't do any neutral drops

Those cars used Toyota powerplants and drivetrains. In fact, I think the Prism is actually just a Corolla with new badges.

The new Vibe is also a shared platform car. Same with the old Nova
