| | obd2 reader with a laptop? | permalink #1 |
| Tweak Minion | My car is constantly spitting out a error with my gas cap... I make sure it is closed but sometimes it pops up. Is there anyway I could make my own OBD2 scanner with my laptop? I'm googling but I figure maybe someone on tweak knows. It's for a Dodge based car. I would like the abiltiy to reset the errors btw. | |

| Jolly Roger | I wouldn't say $200 is a crapload on money considering a mechanic will probably charge you an hours work to check a code once. | |

| Habitual line stepper | Autozone, Kragen(SP?) and others will let you borrow their tool. We do it all the time, just walk in, and ask for the code reader or whatever it's called. They'll either walk out with you and help you, or they'll take your license as collateral. Much cheaper ain't it? | |
