My dealer finally got the car I wanted yesterday and got everything done just before work.
I got a 2007 Toyota Yaris almsot bare bone. So far, I love it (and chances of loving it even more as time goes on). The car is really small (although a lil' bit tall, almost Minivan like), feels really solid, drives reaaallyyy smoothly (I topped the 60's without even realizing it), etc. I love it!!
Pics to come soon..

When it comes down to it, safety ratings don't mean shit, if you're in a 5x5 tin can, and you get hit by a 1 ton Powerstroke with a big shiny grill guard, you're gonna lose.

Yea but when you head dosnt bounce off from nice flat grey metal instead bounces off nice fluffy airbags. Youll see that those safety ratings and teh new saftey technology really does matter.

Not if it crushes so bad your head has nowhere to bounce...

When I get home I'll look for a photo of a crashed Yaris at 60mph where the front is messed up, but driver got out of the car walking on his own.
Granted, being small car there is more chances of taking a big chunk of the energy of a crash, but it is designed to do fairly well on a crash and it is quite tall (at stop lights my window sight is a a little bit lower than a minivan), so big cars are more likely to see me. Not a big relief, but there isn't much to do. For that matter, it is roughly the size of a 3 door Golf ...

Edit: here's a link to the photo I was talking about. http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=932

I've put 275 miles already, mostly with the AC on and racing it a little and the gas indicator just went down the half mark (it has a digital meter ).
Edit: I forgot to mention that acording to the manual it has a 9.2 gallons fuel tank .

yaris is pretty cool, but i prefer the fit myself.

the nissan versa was also quite impressive. more powerful than the fit, 6 spd, and more room. but the fit just felt like it was built better, and it had a real suspension.

i never drove the 3dr yaris, but i imagine it is waaay better than the 4 door. congrats

The Fit has too much of the minivan looks to me. The Versa is also a good option, but I don't like it. I prefer the candy shaped cars :P.
