| Lord Of Porn | UPDATE BELOW Oh well, at least I can take traffic school so my insurance rate doesn't go up. Went 56 in a 40 zone, cop changed it to 45 (he said he did this so I have to pay a lower fine) so I went 11mph over. My last speeding ticket was 18mph over and came out to $250, I hope this one is under $200. I kind of needed this to keep me in check, but speeding sure is fun. 11mph over speeding ticket is nothing and I am thankful since it could have been a lot worse. EDIT: I just looked online, my fine should be about $150. UPDATE BELOW Last edited by Mr. Ali; 08-18-2008 at 04:17 PM.. |

| Senior Member | lol speeding tickets are fun. A long while back i got 5 tickets by a detective in an unmarked car in upstate NY, who haven't written a ticket in 5 years so he said; he waisted my 45 min. So i asked why make more work for him self. i didn't care for the ticket since i knew i can get out of them ty to my work then. 1. Passing on double yellow line 2. Reckless Endangerment 3. Speeding: not sure i think i was doing 70 on 45 (it was reasonable and road was clear at 2 ish in morning) 4. Failing to stop at Stop sign 5. Switching lanes without indicator. that one was funny because i said to him you gave me a ticket for crossing double yellow line you really think i would give an indicator to pass some grand ma driving at 36 on 45mile road. good old days. |

| x | i started driving in mid march and since then done maybe 100 hours highway driving. when i was going to the indy 500 in may i was crusing along at 85 in a 70 on I-70. when i reach this convoy of trucks 8 long. im one of those people who doesn't like being behind or beside trucks and everyone has always told me don't be afraid to put the hammer down. i go to start passing these trucks doing maybe 90-95. i look in my rear view mirror and there's an IL highway cop. he flashes his lights and pulls me over. my dad is in the passenger seat freaking out, afraid i wont be able to get my license till im 18 (KS law) cop comes up and does the usual then asks why did i pull you over and i played stupid and said i don't know. he says because 94 wasn't fast enough to pass the big rigs! WTF!?!? to this day i still do not understand why he said that. |

| Indigenous Nudist | well its good he dropped it. as long as you present yourself in an orderly manner and fess up to your speeding, the cops will usually give you a little break. i did traffic school once, we just sat back in a class of people and listened to this instructor lecture about defensive driving and it was pretty fun. I thought it was going to be like "Moving Violations", but naw... the real hassle is going downtown to pay the fine.. i end up spending alot more due to gas and parking.. a 100 fine ends up being 120 or more.. I just show up to court, admit, and pay the fine so my insurance doesnt go up |

| Lord Of Porn | For my last ticket I just sent them a check and did an online traffic school thing that took about 1hour or so and cost a little under $30. |

| From Utah, NOT mormon | The last time I got a speeding ticket I was going 18 over. Cop dropped it to 11 over, and I went in and talked with the DA, he reduced it to 9 over so it wouldn't affect my insurance. I got lucky, and pretty much from that day I haven't sped that much unless I'm in a huge hurry, but even then 5 over is the fastest I'll go. |

| Globe Trekker | It's been forever since I got a ticket. I generally go no faster than 5-7MPH over, and cops take no interest in me. Just allow plenty of time to get there and slow down! I find that it allows me to relax and live more in the moment anyway. |

| Tweak Minion | man the cops here in the nw are ass hats. I wish there were nice cops here. I've gotten one speeding ticket when I was 17 when I used to speed everywhere. I lived 30 miles away from civilization at the time and was in college and working full time so I would go 20-30 over the speed limit on the highway in the middle of nowhere. One day, an Expedition cop was coming the other way and she turned around and pulled me over. Knocked down the ticket to like 11 over I believe. I haven't sped since. If I'm in a hurry, I'll go a max of 5 over. It's just not worth it now a days as my terrible credit already causes my insurance rates to be ridiculously expensive. oh and I have better things to spend my money on than tickets... |

| P/T State Worker | Yeah Seriously, i don't get it either. How can a cop do that? The online traffic school's are REALLY easy, about an hour - hour an a half long tops. You go through a serious of chapters with questions at the end and you can't move on until you answer them all right. Then at the very end, they have the same questions throughout each chapters and by that time you know every answer. VERY EASY! I have 2 points on my record either and can't afford to get into an accident, I could afford to get a ticket, but don't want to risk it. I know is been at least a 14-15 months since ive had a ticket... 2 years my points should be knocked off. It sucks I got both the points from the spot... bleh |

| Lord Of Porn | This is what the ticket says: Posted speed: 40mph Speed I was going: 56mph Safe speed: 45mph They did the same thing on my last ticket, moved the speed from 35mph to 45mph safe. I am generally never in a hurry when driving, I always arrive to work with 10-15mins to spare and arrive at school with even more time. Speeding is just fun |

| Uber Noob | I have to be very careful because when you have a CDL you can't go to a driving school or anything to get rid of or reduce the fines.... AND when your employer sees that they might suspend your driving privileges for them (basically you lose your job)....sometimes they will accept it if its something VERY small....but rarely.... I think the last speeding ticket I got though was about 8 years ago...make that 9 years ago and I was going 75 in a 65... I was distracted by arguing with my ex (whom I was still with at the time) and just when I saw the speed I was going the cop snagged me...he dropped it to a lower amount but I took the defensive driving and got it removed.... then I got my CDL...whole new ballgame... But I did hear from someone recently that they may change that for us and allow us to take those classes under certain circumstances..... that would be nice.... |

| infinite resolution | I've only been pulled over once since I started driving, for failure to yield. What happened is I was in a turn-lane at a light, turning left. This was a steep hill above downtown Seattle, and I literally couldn't see the cars coming up the hill I had to turn in front of, it was just a bad intersection. So anyways I try and look, think its clear, and hit the gas. Somehow I ended up cutting in front of the cop herself, haha. Talk about crappy luck. It was something like a $120 ticket, but for some reason I was able to pay a $100 fee, and if I kept a clean driving record for 6 months that would come off my record. Pretty sweet deal huh? I don't speed much. On Highway 99 going to work and back in places the speed limit is 40mph, but everyone drives around 60mph. I do that, and sometimes above, knowing its what everyone does here because its safe to do, but I sometimes worry about a cop just being a dick and pulling me over. Hell, since July 1st, talking on a cellphone without a hands-free headset is against the law and I've even been obeying that for the most part. |

| Vagabond | Biggest ticket I have ever been involved with (I was a passenger) was 184km/hr in a 90 zone. We were about 4hrs from the nearest cop station so he knocked it down to 139km/hr so he didn't have to take the driver in to the station. Ali, the cop changed what the limit was or what he recorded you at? I have never heard of them changing the limit before. Didn't think they could do that actually. |

| Lord Of Porn | He did not change the speed limit. Let me try and explain again. On the ticket you can see some boxes: Posted speed: 40 Recorded speed: 56 Safe Speed: 45 All he did was say at that point in time it is safe and ok to go 45 in that 40 zone. He did not change the speed he recorded me going at. |

| Has Absolutely no life | I got pulled over doing 120 in a 60. He gave me 80 in a 60 and let me go. |
