If its a full size jimmy then yes, the back comes off like a bronco. They are nearly identical to a K5 Blazer. They are tough as hell out in the woods. Some older jeeps came stock with an AMC 304 V8(CJ5-CJ, some people also put 350's in them, not as large as a full size jimmy or blazer but just as easy to work on. Could be easier to manage depending what kind of terrain your going on. A chevy C10 with a 454 are nasty, could haul anything with that.

awesome, i've always liked to lean more towards pontiac/gmc over chevy. are there any differences at all or just different names. where can i look for aftermarket?

Pontiac doesn't make trucks.

GMC Jimmy, or Chev Blazer are the same thing other than some trim and cosmetic differences.

If you want one of those, go for one that is TBI with a 700R4, not carbed with a Th350, better mileage and driveability.

I'm sure there's somone here that knows more about that particular model then I *cough*Jishory*cough*

88 would be tbi with a 700r4. the tops do come off and make for a really fun truck to have in the summer time.

check out www.ck5.com for blazer/jimmy info, its a gold mine for information about k trucks
