so i've only installed an intake on an 240sx, and an is300, it was easy, take off the airbox, put intake in, and bolt it, my friend with an a4 1.8t wants to put in an intake, does anyone have any experiance? do i have to take off the bumper and all? also something about the MAF sensor and all? i really have no idea what the hell all those are, since the 240 and the is was just basically plug and play...

MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor. It's used in pretty much every fuel injected car. It tells the computer how much air is getting in. I will admit that I know nothing about putting an intake on an A4.

You do know that the amount of power an intake gets you is negligible right? All it really does is make you car louder.

It should come with detailed instructions. If I can install it (a civic), anyone can.

i don't think it was made for audi, its one of those universal k&n ones but yeah.. the audi factory intake is already built well, but my friend is complete opposite from ali, wants his car louder..

Just because you didn't understand what your air filter was going to do doesn't mean everyone else isn't going to.

All you would have to do is take the airbox out and just clamp the filter on.. don't understand why you would do this with a 1.8T, especially on an A4, you'll notice no differences.

Louder turbo! Some of those Audis/VWs are so fuckin' loud, I assume it's the intake that helps that. But yeah it'll probably add 1 HP.

well i did some research, they said get the air filter, and just place it on the factory one and i won't have any problems with the maf, the air filter is what connects to the intake pipe and hose right?

MAF sensor? So you're tryong to replace the intake piping, not just the filter element.

I don't really see the point in replacing the whole intake on an Audi, you won't notice any performance gain. Just drop in a K&N replacement filter and call it a day.

Funkgab if your friend likes loud cars then he should just get a whistle tip installed

if he wants his car loud tell him to run a 2.5 or 3' downpipe without a cat and a 2.5 exhaust, the 1.8T's don't sound half bad with a nice exhaust and he'll actaully see a reasonable power gain.

he could also slap on a BOV and not recirculate it, people will think he drives a fast car until they see it!

is the drop in filter part of the intake, basically the filter without a pipe?

i dont know about you guys but i think "quiet" is "IN".
the loud fart pipes are soooo 90's and early 00's

this day and age i like cars that got a nice low grumble, cars that are super quick and quiet as a bat... sleepers.

thats why im hesitant on putting an intake on my ls, im worried it might be too loud.

^ That's because you're black. Black people like quiet, smooth riding on a cloud type cars. White people like loud, lunchbox riding cars. Except old white people. They drive black people cars. Or do black people drive old white people cars? Hmm..

funkgab: No, a drop-in filter is a filter that goes in the stock airbox.
VW/Audi's are QUIET bone stock. The loud ones, well, you can probably figure it out.
