| | I am returning my intake | permalink #1 |
| Lord Of Porn | Yeah, yeah, yeah, I should have done more research. The noise is really getting to me and I was just going to remove it and install my stock setup again and cry to sleep at night over the wasted $195. Luckily I can return it with a 20% deduction so its not too bad. Also I did not notice that much of a fuel efficiency increase. I went from 25.7 to 25.3 after the intake was installed but it is lower because I did have more of a lead foot when driving and my tires were out of balance the whole time (I found this out and fixed after getting violent shaking on the freeway). The real test is my current tank and I think I will keep it installed till then and if the MPG increase isn't significant it is going back. I really loath the increase in nose though, I know some people like it but to each his own. | |

| infinite resolution | Lame. I know its not expected to give much of a power increase, but did you feel any improvement in that area? | |

| Lord Of Porn | Honestly the increase claims are like 4hp AT MOST and only in a specific rev range. So I really did not notice anything. Since installing it I have read a lot of contradicting stuff about cold air intakes and it seems theres lots of mis-information about them. Some people were saying that people who strive for super efficiency use something called warm air intakes that causes the ECU to spray less fuel. It lowers your power but increases your MPG but who knows, I usually don't know what I am talking about when talking cars. All I know is that Honda has spent tons of money researching my intake (albeit mostly in sound proofing it, making it a little more restrictive) and I will be sticking with it. | |

| Tweak3D Webmaster | Aftermarket intakes add almost no power on most cars, and I've never seen one actually add gas mileage. We sell some intakes here for as much as $4000 ... and yeah, they add like 10 HP to a 450 HP car, are carbon fiber/look cool, etc., but won't effect mileage. Manufacturers of aftermarket parts make the most ridiculous claims for power / mileage etc -- because they legally can and it's almost impossible to verify because there are so many variables to consider. I remember when K&N used to say a filter would add 10 HP to a stock Honda, as if a higher flowing air filter was going to increase the HP by 10% on a stock car. They would also claim 15% higher MPG and other bogus shit like that. | |

| Globe Trekker | Consumer Reports did a fuel saver issue recently, and gave those after market kits a big honking thumbs down. They said they were basically a waste of money. | |

| Tweak Minion | lmao i got one of those tornado things a long time ago to try on my mustang. ya made no difference. if it really was that simple to increase gas mileage, it would probably be built into the car (or maybe not...) | |

| infinite resolution | Well yah, everyone ought to know that. I'm wondering if Consumer Reports tested "performance" intakes as part of their fuel saving parts test. | |
