im looking for a good in car GPS, a good friend of mine is moving to Hell Michigan
(not being funny either) and for a going away gift im gonna get him a good GPS for his 98 BMW 540i, i have never shopped for GPS units (damn scouts) and so i have no idea what to look for when searching for one of these, can someone give me some sort of direction or recommend me a nice one for less than 400$?

Yeah, assuming you just want the basics, I hear tomtom is worth it.

I've used both Tomtom and Garmin units quite a bit. I prefer the Garmin personally, just for the way it guides you around streets and over all feature set. I also prefer the Garmin GUI over the Tomtom

So yeah, there is pretty much nothing in Hell, MI. It's a beautiful place though. We used to go camping at Pinckney State Rec Area which is right outside of Hell. Every property is literally situated on a lake too, so I imagine your friend will have some really nice property on one of the many all-sports lakes in the area. But seriously, what is in Hell for him?

well other than the fact his family can say hes going to hell and their son lives in hell. hes moving there to study the earth. more in-depth is age of the trees and what heavy metals they are absorbing and the age/type of rocks in the area.

Slickdeals.net

If that deal is down get a Garmin with a widescreen. Garmin is the best of the bunch.

Garmin is much better than TomTom. I have used both a ton. I use a Garmin Nuvi model right now. All the TomToms I have used get confused and give really wierd directions all the time.

I'm trying to evolve.

I'd recommend a Garmin nuvi 360 or 660 if it were me. But if you don't want bluetooth, you can go with the 350 or 650. The *70 models come with bluetooth and the FM traffic advisory thing, but it doesnt work too well from what I hear.

Magellan makes some pretty good ones too. I've been wanting to get a GPS but they are just so expensive...
