it is my dream to have a nitro rc truck. i actually ordered the savage truck two years ago and canceled my order the next day because i just couldnt get myself to spent $400 on it and another $200 on accessories for it. BUT ONE DAY, ONE DAY i will get myself one of these.

EDIT: oh yeah, congrats on your purchase, im sure you will have tons of fun

buy one man, fuck it, you dont have rent or anything to pay either right? and you might die tomorrow right? i found a ton used on craigslist and ebay for about half of what they cost new, the only reason im going the new route is because i just like that feeling of opening it up first that much, plus my new job pays alot better. money is for spending i say.

you can get a jato rtr for less then 400$, all you need is gas other then that if youd be willing to go with a 2 wheel drive Traxxas Nitro Jato 3.3 RTR

half the excitement for me is building the truck, thats why i wanted the savage kit so getting a used one wont do it for me. yes i live at home and don't pay rent so my expenses are very low but then again i pay other items (in full, not split with anyone else) like gas/electricity/water/disposal/internet/cell phone/car payment/insurance and only work part time because of school. plus i cant help but try and shave as much as i can off my monthly expenses whether it is to be a nazi about electricity/water/power usage or not going out for food as often as i use to. there is no way in hell im going to spend over $100 on something i don't need, im trying to rid myself of having the impulse of buying anything i dont need anymore and just stick to the pure essentials.

Nitro is for pussies. Brushless electric motors is where it's at. They are cleaner and faster. I used to race at a local track few years back. They are tons of fun, but lay down a budget for yourself right now, because they are a money pit too!

EDIT: Never buy a used nitro rc unless you plan on replacing the engine. Those little engines don't last long and you have no idea how the previous owner took care of it. They are really easy to fuck up during the break-in period.

I sold my 4WD Serpent 835 a while ago. I upgraded the engine to a ZX21, it was sick fast. I used to smoke my buddy on his motorcycle all the time. I just didn't have time for it anymore and I was afraid to let my 5yo play with it.

I would get an electric, just because they are less of a hassle.

The reason im not going electric is because im gonna be taking it out on four wheeling trips. Fill up the tank and bam its charged i dont want to carry a million batterys or charge it off my truck battery. Im already an electric believer guys, i have a lipo powered helicopter and it performs awesome

Ahhh, true true. Nitro still has that one, one advantage of being able to fill up the tank and go! Are you dead set on a Revo? Have you looked into the HPI Savage? Revo is more of a race truck while the Savage is like a tank and can take alot more bash abuse. Traxxas makes some of the best RC trucks for the track, but they seem to break parts much more frequently. Their are some better options if you are going just be bashing around.

I had a 2WD Jato before the 3.3 motor became standard and that thing was a monster. Those Traxxas trucks are built so much better than most brands. Mine could smack into curbs doing 35 MPH, jump off launch ramps, and overall just take pure abuse without ever breaking a single part. My friend's cheaper trucks would break suspension pieces every time we'd take them out.

ive been hearing it the other way around electric head, i dunno, the revo seems to perform the best from reviews, im gonna go out on a limb and try it, if i dont like it i guess ill have to live with it, but i doubt ill be disappointed. if something breaks ill likely replace it with a tougher aftermarket part and eliminate weak links slowly.

Let us know how it works out!

When you start replacing parts, look at the company RPM. They make the best aftermarket plastic parts in the RC business. I would order some RPM tie rod ball-ends with the truck...a little heads up from experience.

finished breaking it in earlier, the thing is a blast, i slipped it a couple times, its still in great shape, shot some compressed air on it and it cleaned up great, i need to get some stiffer springs though the stock ones are soft as hell
