Can you imagine hitting a pot hole in that thing? I bet the ride is rough. And at $27,000-30,000 it's pretty expensive. But 230MPG on the highway is pretty sweet...

I bet with a bit of wind it drifts all over the highway.

What a beautiful face
I have found in this place
That is circling all round the sun
What a beautiful dream
That could flash on the screen
In a blink of an eye and be gone ...

It's missing a clutch pedal, a gear shifter and a rev counter.

you make a good point. People will NEVER switch to these ugly ass crazy looking vehicles. Sorry people buy cars based on mostly looks. Even if the thing was $5,000, I doubt they could sell many, let alone $30,000. We will never ever get off our dependence on oil. I'm sure they make them ugly for a reason though. We could have Hummers that get 60 mpg by now if it wasn't for the greedy oil companies.

What the hell are you guys talking about? People buy ugly cars all the time. The Scion, the ugly Honda SUVs, that ugly Toyota SUV, the Dodge Caliber.

those are your personal opinions though. But also, there is a different. Some of those cars you mentioned are not my cup of tea but they still look like NORMAL vehicles...unlike some of these new gas saving cars they are trying to get out there.

We have hummers that get 60 MPG
: Car Hacker’s Hummer Gets 60 MPG - Gas 2.0

another reason why diesels are awesome.

People will, and do buy ugly cars. A couple years ago GM did a huge marketing study that found that people associate ugly car with more advance, more efficent and superior technology, ever wonder why all the new GM's are fugly? Toyota did the same thing with the Prius.

Yuppy's love it, because it makes a big bold ugly statement about how eco friendly you are.

Sure you could get a TDI Golf that costs half the price and gets just about the same real world mileage with even less environmental impact(or better yet convert to Bio diesels and actually having next to no impact and recycles waste) But then how is everyone going to know you're a tree hugging yuppy?

haha yes I knew about that hummer article. The hummer has to be hacked though. They should be coming out of the factory like that.

QFT. I own a Honda SUV, so I should know. I bought it for features and quality, not looks.

Yes but I truly believe you are one of the few. Look around to see what's out there. if people bought vehicles for features and quality, everybody would just buy Toyota and Honda lol.

The problem actually has more to do with the eco-crazies then you may think. If you take your stock car, remove all of the emissions components and what not then tune it accordingly you will get very good mile and more power. The problem is that you will have a higher pollution % by mass, NOT buy mile. Did you read where that car, getting 230mpg was not able to pass emissions? A hummer puts out WAY more polution per mile but has a smaller pollutions per mass (measured in ppm, parts per million) and thus it is more "eco friendly" disreguarding the fact that a hummer probably puts out the same amount of pollutions in 20 miles as that car does in 200.
