WTF Ford! today i was out driving with my drivers ed instructor in a 2007 ford mustang v6. the engine is gutless, the suspension is like riding on rocks, the transmission is sluggish, the shifter is total shit, and the go go pedal has some resistance on it before it puts power to the plant. am i the only one with complaints on this car?

I had a 2007 rental a while back and it was fun. Not super powerful, but spirited for a V6. Of course I was driving the automatic. In a straight line I enjoyed it. As for the suspension, yeah it sucks. Medium to hard cornering was awkward and awful.

I've read some reviews of the Shelby Cobra and minus the obvious, no issue with power, it rides like crap and steering is scary stuff. Why the fuck can't we build a car anymore?

edit: I was consider buying a Cobra a year or so ago and it was getting raked across the coals before it's release. Now, it's getting glowing reviews, guess it's a good thing, I can imagine my weekly gas bill if I would have bought it anyway.

How close was the suspension to the Acura? I'm guessing besides the power and automatic transmission lag that you're not use to sport suspension.

its using a new sport suspension but my brother drives more...spiritedly than i did in this car so his suspension feels proportional to the speed, it has lean in corners. the mustang had no real give to it when in a turn, it was very rigid and taking tight turns at 60 mph you really couldn't feel the car move, it was like driving a block. but ive never driven the integra (im told i could never learn on a stage 2 clutch)

or am i just imagining the lean in the acura and all cars really feel this bad...

I'd wager you're feeling the difference between a 13 year old Honda suspension (when I had one was great for taking speed bumps at 40 and not feeling a thing) and a suspension that at least is somewhat trying to be sport tuned. Ideally when you take a turn of some speed you want minimal body roll.

No doubt. A stock V6 Mustang handles about the same as my Troy-bilt riding lawn mower.

Dude, before my Accord I had an 03 RSX-S, I know how amazing the Integra/RSX suspension line is/was. I'm saying that if he's driving a relatively new "entry-level sports car" and complaining it doesn't have body roll compared to the 13 year old he's not getting the idea behind a "sport-tuned" suspension. Yeah he said the Integra has a stage 2 clutch and all that, but I really doubt the suspension has been kept up over time.

I'm with Juball here. All of those indicate that the Mustang actually handles better. Not everyone's used to a sports car but for cornering:
Body roll = bad
Giving (or flex) = bad
Not rigid = bad

I know V6 Mustangs handle like crap compared with some cars, but every good sports car I've driven was very rigid, had no virtually no body roll, and didn't "give" at all going into a corner. You're comparing FWD to RWD, something that takes years to understand and take advantage of. Plus the steering is a lot heavier in a Mustang than a Honda (which have crazy power assistance), so the Honda feels like it's handling better even if it's about to roll over.

Edit: Post 4000! woo

V6 Mustang = garbage.

But so are those other cars you listed, minus the Integra.

i was never aware that you want a rigid suspension, i thought you would want a softer one so you car at high speeds would ride lower. the kia rondo is bad ass (for a crossover) it goes about 135 and handles like a 2 seater. it may be a hyundai but the interior is REALLY nice too. but i guess im really used to a soft more comfortable ride rather than a hard sport suspension.
