This happened at work earlier this week. I was walking through the shop and noticed it looked out of place. Haha.

Anyways what happened.. somebody pulled the car over the lift obviously and from what I understand, left to go do something else. There was a box leaning on something, and somehow it tipped and ended up falling onto the lift controls, causing the lift to go up. I'd hate to be the person who has to explain this to the customer..

oh man, tell us the details about what you are going to do for the customer and his reaction.

Hopefully the insurance company will total it for him. I doubt it will ever be the same.

Dunno, wasn't my car to work on.. I'm not sure if the frame tweaked, if so, it's totalled.. haven't heard anything else yet.

Wtf? There might be a few scratch and dents, maybe a new bumper cover but total it for this.

If a car can't handle being tipped on its front in super slow mo, how would it keep a person safe in a high speed accident.

Anyways, that why i never take my vehicle to shops to get worked on. You can't do an oil change yourself for $20 but i like the peace of mind that it is being done right, not some highschool dropout underfilling the engine and crossthreading my oil plug.

Well A) it looks like the car fell to me, and B) with crumple zones and all that jazz the cost of repair could be in the thousands. And those crumple zones are precisely the reason why Hondas are safe in high speed crashes. The government crash ratings for the Civic are excellent.

Are we looking at the same pictures here? The lift pads aren't even under the car. There is no way in hell that thing fell down. the lift came up and pulled the rear end in the air while the front stayed on the ground The bumper is scratched and cracked, if even that.

U.S. Gov't crash test ratings are a joke. A 25 year old Volvo wagon scores better on the modern U.S. tests than a brand new tin-box civic. If you're driving a civic you can double your chance of staying alive in a crash by laying the Sunday edition on your lap.

AER - 05/29/87-10/26/03, I'll never forget.

My bad, for some reason I misunderstood that bit. Still, that's going to be an expensive repair.

Twisted the frame? What frame :P

Doesn't look at all like it fell off, just the rear got lifted. (mentioned above).

THe damage on that wouldn't even be close to writing it off, like I said before, couple dent repairs, maybe a bumper cover and it's good to go.

The car will probably just need a new front bumper and maybe a few other parts. My dad got nailed by some high school girl in my mom's civic, totally killed the front of the car, yet the frame was left unharmed.
