A friend's neighbor is selling this bike, I can get it for $800 bucks. I haven't seen it in person yet, but apparently it's got new tires, new brakes, has been very well maintained, pretty low mileage, one owner, etc. Good bike to learn on?

I'll comment when you fix your tag :P

I like it alot. I would go ahead and get it.
I don't know if in the states you guys can get collectors insurance or not for bikes over 25 years old. I know I was quoted some 130ish dollars for the year, for my 81 yamaha 550cc. So if you can get that, then it's really worth it, no matter how much you ride it.

440LTD's are a really fun bike to ride. They give plenty of power for every day riding, but are still forgiving for the novice rider. I was planning on getting one back when I first began riding, but it was bought before I could buy it. They are a lot of fun, and very comfortable to ride. I would definately consider it. The money you would save in gas would pay for the bike in less than a year.

You can have my 400 if none of my friends take it. I'm pretty sure none of them will. You'd need a new seat/paint/carb rebuild/bars/clutch lever/cables/tires and a few other things, but it's free.

Well, I went and looked at it last night and it's pristine. 9,000 miles, new tires, highway pegs, has been regularly maintained. He just had it tuned and checked out in the Spring. He wasn't willing to budge on the price though, so it's $1,000. It's definitely worth that...

Well, the wife and I talked about it last night and she's violently opposed to me getting a bike. Her fears are pretty irrational, but I respect her enough to hold off on buying a bike at least for now. Anybody else want to buy it? It's a hell of a deal...

It's not just your wife, nearly every woman is opposed to bikes. Just a couple minutes ago my mother told me that if I got a street bike I'd be "outta the house", and last night she said she was gonna light my 100 on fire. I don't understand her hatred for the 100 though, it's almost entirely for fun.

Ugh, why do people put dollar signs in front of the number and THEN say "bucks" or "dollars" afterwards?

So basically, it's being read as.. "I can get it for 800 dollars bucks"

If you want to say 800 bucks, just say 800 bucks. Not $800 bucks.
Sorry, I'm tired.

I just like the sound of "bucks". Generally I try to avoid the dollar sign in those instances, but I don't worry about it too much.

Normally I'm a "Fuck you!" kind of person. Trust me on this - it was the right decision under the circumstances. Life gets more complicated once you have a wife and children...

I've already realized that, and I don't even have children yet... I can't wait for that to happen....

Most women are just jealous. My ex used to bitch all the time complaining that I spent more time out on my scoot than I did with her, She was right though, I did. WTF,,, it rode better and didn't talk back.
