| Saint, Church of Ryanism | Well, finally got the cash to buy a few new toys for the car. Went with some Konig Hot Swap rims (19x8, machined with carbon fiber inserts) and a set of 4 Kumho Ecsta PST 245/35ZR-19 tires. These aren't the real fun parts I bought, though. I also bought an LS2 Nitrous Oxide Plate kit from NOS. It is a direct bolt in throttle body setup with everything to install. I have it plumbed in now with a 10 pound bottle, and a 150 shot. I know that some people will probably argue that this motor can't handle it, but I know for a fact it can. I know of 2-3 other GTO's in the New England area that are running 150 shot (without any problems at all), and even a guy running a 175 shot. Basically, the car pulls harder than anything I've ever played with. It really brought the motor to life. According to others who have done the identical install, I should be pushing anywhere from 515-520hp at the rear wheels while spraying. Really makes for some good launches. Pics are to come tomorrow. ~Will Courtier~ |

| Chief Webologist | Yeah those motors love nitrous. That's not a problem, IMO. Have fun! Take it to the track once you're used to it. |

| why aren't you putting it in the trunk ? you can get a remote bottle opener for what 50 bucks or so it'll look alot cleaner. Also I'm not sure but i think nitrous anywhere other than the trunk is illegal in CT |

| El Chupacabra | It's not the motor I would be worried about. It's the tough as glass half-shafts and differentials that GM uses. I would look into to putting some money in to the rear end if I were you. |

| Saint, Church of Ryanism | Yup. The motor handles it very well. Once I get the engine compartment cleaned up, I'll take pics. I'm also tossing in a K&N cold air intake and cone filter later on this week (should boost another ~25hp at the motor while spraying). It is a full wet shot. I'll tell you that it is risky to do this. I wouldn't have done it if I didn't know of so many others who have done it already. This car handles it quite well, and I have not noticed any problems. If I were to put it in a 4x4 truck, I'd run a smaller wet shot (maybe a 100 shot) with a carburetor spacer. You can buy those kits cheap. I'm going to take the car up to have it dyno'ed here before too long. I'm also looking forward to taking a trip up to the track here soon. As for the rear end, I'm not worried at all. Look at the power some people are pushing through the Corvette C6's. I mean, Lingenfelder Vettes are pushing well over 800hp with the same drive train. The clutch is the weakest link of the drivetrain up to 600hp. The tranny will handle up to about 1000hp (according to a forum dedicated to LS2 GTO's). I have never heard of any problems with the rear end/axles. I could be wrong, though. I'm really happy with the install. It came out really clean, and is hardly noticable with the kit I used. It is a full plate kit that just bolts upstream of the throttle body. It sprays from the side in a wide fog, straight down the throat of the throttle body. The lines run to just above the forward coil packs for the driver's side bank, where the solenoids are mounted. From there, the fuel solenoid runs to the fuel rail (to supply the extra fuel), and the NO2 solenoid runs to the bottle. The wiring was kinda a pain in the ass, but just took some time. I also love where I have the bottle sitting. People in the back seat love feeling the bottle get ice cold when I spray. I don't know about the laws up here regarding NO2. I will definitely look into 'em, though. |

| Lord Of Porn | I don't know much about NOS, last time I heard people talk about it was in the F2F movie. I thought people used it less because it wrecks havoc on your engine over time. Plus, the GTO has so much power stock compared to my civic, adding more to it just makes me want to cry. |

| Lord Of Porn | Sounds good. So how much do the nos bottles cost anyway (or the re-fill price)? How much did the whole NOS kit cost? |

http://www.nitrousexpress.com/Catalog/2007/stage1.pdf N2O is the best bang for the buck bar none. That kit in the link sells for $500 - $600. Do a little research and make sure you know what you are doing before your jump in to it though. Don't call it NOS btw, people will pick on you. Last edited by j0k3r; 10-23-2007 at 11:53 PM.. | |

| Lord Of Porn | Oh no, I wasn't thinking about getting N2O for myself, I was just wondering how much something like that would cost. If I ever did do anything to my car its going to be just adding a cold air intake but I am even too cheap to do something like that. |

| My E-Penis Is HUGE | From what I hear, NOS needs to be in the trunk in out great over taxed state of CT |
| All I see is a black hole, and sooner or later they’re going to suck each one of us into it. But when they come for me, I'm going to take as many of them with me as I can. | |

| Saint, Church of Ryanism | Pics of the engine compartment! Finally got it cleaned up enough to snap a few pics. You can see the throttle body, with the plate installed just upstream of it. That's where the NO2 and extra fuel are sprayed. You can also see the solenoids above the driver's side exhaust manifold. This is a common mounting point for this NO2 system. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What do you guys think? ~Will Courtier~ |

| El Chupacabra | I think it looks great the GTO is a beast of a car, and I can only imagine what it's like on spray. One minor nitpick. Nitrous Oxide contains only one oxygen molecule, such as N2O. It may be referred to as dinitrogen monoxide. |
