I don't get what the purpose of the second screen is for?

you also steer using one of these:


if i understand correctly, its just like a regular gps system, but shows landmarks?

It'd be better if Google took Google Earth, Taked GPS onto it and you could chose to turn terrain off and just have roads or have both.
