I have a guy wanting to buy my scout, but says his wife wants him to pay through Paypal. Anyone ever have any problems doing a large purchase like that through paypal?

Personally I'd only sell a car for cash - but that's up to you. I doubt you'll run into any problems with Paypal, but they'll take a decent chunk of that ($100 or so?)

tell him to pay the difference that paypal would take from the transaction. I wouldn't do it for any less than that.

I've been around the forum for a while and I am not going anywhere.

I don't know if you already have, but look through these pictures. In addition to the driveshafts and what not, the interior sheet metal is not finished. I was just going to sawzall it all out. Also, the rocket end caps are not capped, I have a sheet of steel I was going to include so you could finish that as well.

I guess my question is should I be weary of someone wanting to go through paypal? Anything I can do to safeguard myself from getting screwed down the line (like a stolen Paypal?

I donno, can the buyer do a charge back to paypal and start a shit storm? It is really unnecessary to go via paypal when you are doing this locally. I personally wouldn't do it.

Yeah, it sounds like he's planning some kind of scam, either on you or through paypal. I would just say cash only and move on, it's not worth the potential future headache.

Although, if this isn't the case I'm sure you seem equally suspicious to him requesting cash only.

Heh, and I thought I was doing good with the work I've been doing to the GTO... I just replaced the front brakes (DBA 4000 series cross-drilled/slotted rotors, Hawk HPS brake pads), and swapped out the rear springs with Pedders drag springs (5/16" higher, much stiffer to reduce wheel hop)... I also have window tint on the way for all the windows (20%).

On a good note, just got a bonus from work. Came up with a Lincoln 200 amp tig welder. Smaller unit, only about 5 years old with practically no use. Also getting 4-5 tig torches, over 100#'s of filler metal, an electrode oven for welding electrodes, and over 500 pieces of tungsten... Life is good!

I paid somebody/company via Paypal once, $3500 actually. But I have never received that much cash, I'd rather do it in person and see the paper.
