The Genesis sedan (don't forget about the rear-wheel-drive Genesis Coupe that's coming next) will be available with three engines including the automaker's familiar 3.3L and 3.8L Lambda V6 engines producing 264 HP/233 lb. ft. and 290 HP/264 lb. ft., respectively. The top-shelf motor will be Hyundai's first V8 in the U.S., the 4.6L Tau V8 that produces a healthy 368 HP and 324 lb. ft. of torque. The Tau V8 also gets paired with a ZF 6-speed automatic rather than the Aisin 6-speed autos that are mated to the V6 engines. The V8 also runs on good old fashioned 87 octane unleaded gas, something not all of its competition can claim. 0-60? Well under 6 seconds says Hyundai.

All that for $30,000 car that looks like an lexus LS? Not bad.

I'm surprised to not see a front logo of any sort.

They do that on purpose. They are going for the wow factor and then they want the shock factor that it's a Hyundai.

Hmmm...my interest is slightly perked there.

Very nice. If the reliability turns out to be good this could be the car that finally turns Hyundai into a respectable brand.

The grill is a little off imo, not hideous, but just not quite a fit. Everything else looks very interesting. I'll be listening out for future reviews.

I think that Hyundai is the Honda of the early 90s as this point. Had semi-decent vehicles for a while that were a little goofy and now finally breaking into incredibly reliable and affordable vehicles.

(Though they're still assholes for using an italicized Honda logo.)

As for the badges, I predict a lot of people will de-badge them in the back as well.

That's pretty cool to see them show off their engineering chops. But if they try to go upmarket like VW has been trying to do with the Phaeton (a failure sales wise) they will be in for a rude awakening. Honda and Toyota had to develope the Lexus and Acura names in order to sell luxury cars at higher price points in the U.S. Market.

Hyundai is getting greedy. They need to stick with what they do best and build good quality affordable cars at lower end price points.

There are few problems that cannot be solved with the proper application of a high explosive projectile.

That looks pretty slick. And for once I'm okay with the interior. I'm tired of all this faux metal bullshit, and everything being rounded and knoby. This is so much nicer.

Anyways, I think this car should do pretty well. Decent price and pretty good specs. Hope this does well for Hyundai, car companies need more competition.

Here's some concept of the Genesis coupe:
