They really overpriced the accessories IMO.
Premium edition or bust here.. I don't see a reason to buy the core version.
Costs about 100 more than xbox1/ps2 at launch though.

Why not just price it at $300 or $400 even. Its not like its a mental trick or anything to make me think its cheaper. First glace at it I automatically throw a penny on top.

whats worse is the fact that games are likely to raise in price 10 bucks. It's this kinda pricing that encourages (my) piracy

yeah its a pretty crappy cycle...but ya know game prices also go up because of greed, as well as the consumer not willing to buy products because they have lost faith in them (causing the producer to say "hey, we gotta do soemthing to mak X amount of money...but no one wants to buy the game, so lets jack the price up! get more money for less games!)

or something to that effect. not defending piracy, just sayin other reasons for outrageous game prices

btw, highest price since the sega saturn? Yeah saw how well that one turned out...

It's been said that the game price increase is due to the longer dev times needed for these next-gen games. I'd say it's a good argument as I basically have to increase my polygon counts/texture resolutions x3 for next-gen and also add a few extra textures I don't have to do this generation. Studios are going to have to hire more staff and face longer development cycles or fall behind.

Yeah we have ps3/xbox360 dev kits.. but I'm not going to be working on next-gen stuff for a few months.

Prices are going up because game companies can charge more for games and gamers will buy them. It's the same damn reason why video card prices are so freaken high!!

The video game industry is either close to over taking the movie industry in terms of profit or already has so I know they are making money and plenty of it.

Piracy and dev time are ridiculous excuses! You can't tell me a rehash of a PS1 game on the psp needs to be priced at $50.

Or it's because games are more than blipping dots now a days and require more voice actors to be paid, more coders to be working to finish a single game, etc.

And PS2 and Xbox were both $300 at launch. Gamecube was like $250 I think

PS Sega Saturn owns your soul, sir. I wish there was a working emulator of it so I could play Dragon Force without having to dig the damn thing out of my closet

God, I hate my memory. For some reason I remember PS2 being something like $500 at launch. Could that've been for importing a brand new one from Japan, or am I just totally off base?

Most stores were selling it only as a bundle for 500 when it first came out, it came with the system 3 games and a memory card.
